Anna Shcherbakova

I was a bit surprised Anya looked disappointed, she was amazing, the score was good and it was obvious some skaters with 3A would have a good chance to beat her in SP. She looked fierce as ever, she will fight well tomorrow!

I'm upset too, to be honest. 10 points behind is unreasonably high. The triple axel by itself does not give such an advantage, here the psychological factor began to put pressure on the judges.

Good luck Anna on her phenomenal 4 peat attempt. But more important in the Olympic season is to just make the podium at Russian nationals go on to Europeans and then the Olympics.

I don't know what happened today but I would never never expected to be in the lead among such competition after the SP with with the 3A girls. The free skate is a different story and she can make up a lot of ground there what she has the previous 3 Russian nationals.

What did she score and how was she 10 points behind? Is behind KV or Liza?

to be precise, not by 10, but by almost 9. Anna got 81.46, Kamila - 90.38. There is also Sofia Muravyova - she has 81.87, but her prospects for tomorrow are vague. Liza 71,28.
That's a great score for Anna has she ever scored over 80 in her SP before?

What do you mean by her prospects are vague? Did you mean Sofya? Anna is over 10 points ahead of Liza. I never would have expected that after the short program where Liza has a 3A.

Remember the important thing here is not winning her 4th Russian nationals in a row it's making the podium and cementing her trip to Europeans and the Olympics. She's in position to clearly be the number 2 Russina going to euros.

KV scored over 90? Yikes!

yes I mean Sofya. Lisa fell on a triple axel and did not look good overall

Anna after SP:
in general, I am satisfied. And by technique, and tried to show how we are working on the program. Still, the second start with this program. The image is very interesting as usual. It was invented by Daniil Markovich (Gleichengauz). At the beginning of the program, I seem to pull the string out of myself, and then I play it.

If I think that I have come here to qualify for the Olympics, it will be sheer excitement and no constructiveness. After the skating, you can think about the place, the ratings. I have good points for the short program. I'll also see how everything turned out on the video.

There are several options for FS. Let's choose based on my shape. I feel good, nothing bothers me. But I would not want to talk about how many quads tomorrow I will have

Anna, the old veteran, will have a trick or 2 up her sleeve tommorow.

Strategically speaking, she is right. The Olympic berth being locked up is the first goal.

And that look of disappointment on her face is a bad sign for most skaters, but she isn’t most skaters. She will use that as even bigger motivation.

Anna has been there and done that already.

Anna was always going to be in an disadvantage position without the 3A. I do think though the point difference between her and Kamila should be no more than 6. Her Olympic spot is pretty much lock by now. I pray for her health and form and hopefully she competes at all the 3 majors next year.

I'm very shocked Liza had a bad scape this was heard nationals to lock up the Olympic team. Maybe the pressure is too much. We know that Anna is very good with pressure and like she said her short program gave her a good amount of points.

I think she's got the 2nd spot. I hope she doesn't go crazy tomorrow and try to land 3 quads or something like that to maybe have a chance to beat KV. Who skates 1st tomorrow Anna or Kamila?

How does Anna go into the free skate? Trying to score huge to upend KV or being very stable and having her best free skate of the season setting her up for Europeans the Olympics and worlds?
