Anna VALESI and Martin BIDAŘ are Pairs skaters who represent the Czech Republic.

Anna Valesi was born on 9th June 2002 in Como, Lombardy, Italy.

Martin Bidař was born on 24th February 1999 in České Budějovice, South Bohemia, the Czech Republic.

They are the 2025 Cup Of Innsbruck Pairs Champions.

Martin was the 2016 Pairs Junior World Champion with former partner Anna Dušková.

Anna and Martin announced their partnership in January 2025. Prior to that, Anna was competing in Pairs skating with Manuel Piazza for Italy, while Martin has had a string of Pairs partnerships for the Czech Republic. Here are the threads about those parts of their careers:

Anna Valesi / Manuel Piazza Fan Fest
Anna Dušková / Martin Bidař Fan Fest
Hanna Abrazhevich / Martin Bidar Fan Fest
Elizaveta Zhuk / Martin Bidař Fan Fest
Barbora Kucianová / Martin Bidař Fan Fest

As the whole of Martin earlier career is dealt with in the threads for his earlier partnerships, but only part of Anna earlier career is dealt with in her and Manuel’s thread, the additional OP’s in this thread will focus on Anna. Consequently, rather than having just one “Original Post”, this Fan Fest has three!

The first post (this one) is for the current Pairs partnership.
The second post is for Anna’s former partnerships.
The third post is for Anna as a Singles skater.

Merano Trophy Senior Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIVF9lR6_Uc

Anna and Martin finished 5th out of 8 in the SP, with a score of 51.13.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Merano Trophy, as I was concentrating on the Asian WInter Games and the European Youth Olympic Festival.

Looking at the Protocols, they had a rocky first half of their programme. There was a fall on the opening Triple Twist, which resulted in GOE of -2.70, and Judges marks of four -5's and one -2. Then the Triple Salchow was under-rotated, which got GOE of -0.46, and 2 from two Judges; -1 from two Judges; and 0 from Judge 4. And then there was a fall on the Throw Triple Salchow, which resulted in GOE of -2.20, and -5 from all five Judges.

But after those first three elements, everything went really well. Everything had positive GOE, and the Judges were giving +1's, +2's, and +3's. The only exception was Judge 4, who gave -1 for the closing Change Foot Combination Spin.

Anna and Martin are currently 0.43 points behind 4th position, Brooke McINTOSH / Marco ZANDRON (ESP), and 2.83 points ahead of 6th position, Tilda ALTERYD / Noël-Antoine PIERRE (FRA).

Wow! 5th in their first Short Programme competition. And you know what, if they have a good Free Skate, there is a chance of them ending up with a medal, because Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT) in 3rd position are only 3.33 points ahead of them.

Oh, it would be remarkable if they could win a medal in their debut event.

So let's hope they do have a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start at 15:45:00 CET (14:45:00 GMT). So 7 hours from now.

Anna and Martin will be the 4th partnership to start. So, fourth and final partnership in Group 1 (and final partnership to go before the resurfacing).

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 15:45:00 CET (14:45:00 GMT). So 7 hours from now.

Anna and Martin are due to start at 16:15:30 CET (15:15:30 GMT). So 7h 30m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Merano Trophy Senior Pairs FS: Results; Protocols
Merano Trophy Senior Pairs: Results

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0T5NmOeVds

Anna and Martin finished 1st out of 8 in the FS, with a score of 110.35. This meant that climbed to 2nd position overall, with a score of 161.48.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Merano Trophy, as I was concentrating on the Haabersti Cup and the European Youth Olympic Festival.

Looking at the Protocols, there were a lot more minuses than you would expect for a programme that had won. Their second element, the Triple Salchow, was under-rotated, resulting in -0.80 in GOE and Judges marks of two -3's and three -2's. This was followed by a DOuble Axel-Single Axel-Double Axe done in sequence, where the final Double Axel was landed on the quarter. It got -0.88 in GOE, and Judges marks of three -3's and two -2's.

The Protocols don't indicate what the issues were with the other two elements that had minuses next to them. The Throw Triple Salchow got -0.15 in GOE, and -2 from Judge 2; -1 from Judge 5; and 0 from the remaining three Judges. The Reverse Lasso Lift got -0.70 in GOE, and -1 from four Judges; and 0 from Judge 2.

All the other elements had no negative numbers next to them.

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 2.84 points ahead of 2nd position, Irma CALDARA / Riccardo MAGLIO (ITA), and 5.83 points ahead of 3rd position, Milania VAANANEN / Filippo CLERICI (FIN).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 4.35 points behind 1st position, Caldara / Maglio, and 3.96 points ahead of 3rd position, Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT).

When I saw that Anna and Martin had won the Free Skate, I just couldn't believe it. Like, this is the first time they have competed together. Things like this just don't happen. Especially in Pairs skating, where it takes time to gel with your partner.

You know, it never looks good when a skater starts the season with one partner and finishes it with a different partner. But, this result shows that changing Martin's partner from Barbora Kuciánová to Anna Valesi was the right decision. In their first event together, Anna and Martin have achieved Free Skate and overall scores that are a lot higher than Barbora and Martin ever did.

As for the Short Programme, Barbora and Martin regularly scored higher. But, come on, it was the first three elements of their first competitive outing that resulted in that score for Anna and Martin. You can't really blame them for being a bit nervous.

If they carry on like this, it looks like Martin has finally found the right partner.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Anna and Martin have a busy couple of weeks ahead of them. Before going to Beijing for the Olympic Qualifying Event next week, they are in action today and tomorrow at the Lombardia Trophy in Bergamo, which funnily enough is on the other side of Milan to where the Olympics will be in Assago.

The Senior Pairs SP is due to start at 12:15:00 CEST (10:15:00 GMT / 11:15:00 BST). So 6 hours from now.

Anna and Martin will be the 3rd partnership to start. So, third and final partnership to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 12:15:00 CEST (10:15:00 GMT / 11:15:00 BST). So 6 hours from now.

Anna and Martin are due to start at 12:32:50 CEST (10:32:50 GMT / 11:32:50 BST). So 6h 17m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Lombardia Trophy Senior Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7YwHRRubvQ

Anna and Martin finished 3rd out of 7 in the SP, with a score of 58.10.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Lombardia Trophy, as I was concentrating on the Junior Grand Prix in Bangkok. However, I have now watched the video, so here is the sort of comment I would have written if I had been watching LIVE:

Same costumes as last season. Will I hear the familiar beautiful sound of "Clair de Lune" when the music starts?

Yes, it is! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Boys but that is a microscopic TES Box!

Beautiful Triple Twist to start with.

Martin beautiful on the Double Axel. Anna fell trying to land it.

Again, Anna had trouble on landing with the Throw Triple Salchow.

Axel Lasso Lift beautiful.

So was the Backwards Inside Death Spiral.

In the Change Foot Combination Spin at the end, they got out of sync in the Sit Spin part (Martin was spinning faster), but stayed synchronised for the rest of it. And, on the whole, it was beautiful. Whoever was shouting the cues (not sure if it was Martin or Petr) was very loud!

Anna's landings early on will be costly. But, apart from that, it was absolutely beautiful. ("Clare de Lune" programmes always are!)

What is this awful cover of "I Want To Dance With Somebody" being played in the arena afterwards?! Whitney Houston will be spinning in her grave!

They go into the lead.

None of the four of them are sure how to react to the scores, but then Martin starts clapping, and the others join in (Anna most enthusiastically!)

:cheer: WELL DONE ANNA AND MARTIN!!! :cheer:

Two members were watching LIVE and commenting in the event thread. German member @Jumping_Bean said:

While Czech member @flanker added:

Looking at the Protocols, as expected, it was the two elements that Anna had trouble landing that were the problem. But, every other row was impressive.

The Double Axel that she fell on had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.65. It also got -5 from all five Judges. The Throw Triple Salchow that followed had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.61. But the Judges marks were better, with two -5's and three -3's.

For the remaining elements, the GOE's ranged from +0.66 for the fifth element, the Step Sequence; to +1.63 for the Axel Lasso Lift done just before it. Apart from four +1's, all the Judges marks for these five elements were +2 or +3.

Anna and Martin are currently 7.57 points behind 2nd position, Rebecca GHILARDI / Filippo AMBROSINI (ITA), and 3.23 points ahead of 4th position, Irma CALDARA / Riccardo MAGLIO (ITA).

Caldara / Maglio are in a tight group of two partnerships, which is completed by Júlía Sylvía GUNNARSDÓTTIR / Manuel PIAZZA (ISL) in 5th position, 4.89 points behind Anna and Martin.

There were two major mistakes, but otherwise the Short Programme was beautiful and scored well. If they can get through their Free Skate without any mistakes, they should have no problem confirming the 🥉 Bronze Medal. But, they have to be careful, because if they do make mistakes and either of the two partnerships behind them have a good Free Skate, there is an outside chance that one of them could end up on the third step of the podium instead.

So, Anna and Martin need to make sure they have a good Free Skate just to be sure.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start at 12:10:00 CEST (10:10:00 GMT / 11:10:00 BST). So 5 hours from now.

Anna and Martin will be the 5th partnership to start. So, second and antepenultimate partnership to go in Group 2 (and antepenultimate partnership to go in the competition).

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 12:40:00 CEST (10:40:00 GMT / 11:40:00 BST). So 5h 30m from now.

Anna and Martin are due to start at 12:54:20 CEST (10:54:20 GMT / 11:54:20 BST). So 5h 44m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Anna and Martin finished 3rd out of 7 in the FS, with a score of 112.47. This meant that they remained in 3rd position overall, with a score of 170.57.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Lombardia Trophy as the Opera VPN is not smart enough to unblock it. However, I have now watched the video, so here is the sort of comment I would have written if I had been watching LIVE:

⛪

Yep, they have kept both programmes from last season. Well, I suppose it was only half a season, after all.

Beautiful Triple Twist to start with.

Out of sync on the Triple Salchow (Martin appeared to take an extra step going into it compared to Anna)

First two jumps of sequence beautiful. Third jump way out of sync.

Axel Lasso Lift beautiful. Add so was Throw Double Lutz.

Anna really had to fight to land the Throw Triple Salchow.

Backward Outside Death Spiral beautiful. And so was the lift immediately afterwards that started off the Choreographic Step Sequence, which was also beautiful.

I'm sounding like a stuck record, but the Reverse Lasso Lift was also beautiful.

Wow! at the Group 3 Lift.

And agreat Combination Spin to finish with!

What can I say?! They were brilliant!!!

Martin has been on a right rollercoaster since his fist Anna retired, but he has finally hit the jackpot again with this Anna.

The crowd is going mad!!! And before anybody says it, it is not down to local bias for Anna. She is not from the Milan area; she's from further north in Como (last week's Junior GP in Varese would have been her local event). They are genuinely appreciating how good that was.

I think I made a mistake in my comment about the SP. I'm pretty sure that isn't Petr Bidař sitting with them.

Whoever he is, what are he and Anna up to?!

Anna and Martin go into the lead.

:cheer: WELL DONE ANNA AND MARTIN!!! :cheer:

There were a few more people commenting in the competition thread than there was in the SP. The first comment came from Polish member @Karoltyna:

Relatively new member @crystalspin commented:

Geman member @Jumping_Bean came out and said what I was scared to say in case it jinxes them:

Czech member @flanker, who has been a great help to me when making the Fan Fests of Martin and his various partners, also said something that I was thinking, but in this case was not scared to say out loud:

@lileychristie in Australia commented:

To which @Karoltyna replied:

And then @Jumping_Bean explained:

To which @Karoltyna replied:

@DemTuppesSeine also replied to her fellow German @Jumping_Bean's explanation with:

The conversation then continued about the status of the Uzbek partnership and whether they will be taking up their slot at the Olympics. So, since there was no more talk about Anna and Martin, I will leave it there.

Looking at the Protocols, the only issues were the glaringly obvious ones that even I spotted. The second element, the Triple Salchow, was under-rotated. It got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.03. And because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it was the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from all five Judges.

The third element, the Double Axel-SIngle Axel-Double Axel done in sequence, was also under-rotated. It got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.10. But because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it only dropped to being the fifth highest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from Judge 2; -4 from Judge 1; -3 from two Judges; and -2 from Judge 6.

The sixth element, the Throw Triple Salchow that I commented about Anna's landing on, was the remaining element that had issues. It had a relatively small GOE hit at -0.44. It got -3 from Judge 2; -1 from three Judges; and 0 from Judge 3.

Amongst all the remaining elements, there was only one negative number: a -1 from Judge 4 for the Backwards Outside Death Spiral. There were four 0's; and all the other Judges marks were in the +1 to +3 range.

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 10.17 points behind 2nd position, Rebecca GHILARDI / Filippo AMBROSINI (ITA), and 6.77 points ahead of 4th position, Júlía Sylvía GUNNARSDÓTTIR / Manuel PIAZZA (ISL).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 17.74 points behind 2nd position, Ghilardi / Ambrosini, and 11.66 points ahead of 4th position, Gunnarsdóttir / Piazza.

All their scores from the Lombardia Trophy are new absolute PB's.

This just shows that results from their first international event, the Merano Trophy, last season were no fluke. This is a strong team. Probably Martin's strongest partnership since his days with Anna Dušková.

We don't have long to wait to see them in action again. They are flying straight to Beijing for the Olympic Qualifying Event. (Ironic that they have to go all the way to China to qualify for an event that is being held only 30 miles as the crow flies from where they were competing!) And although it is a tough schedule doing back-to-back events in totally different parts of the world, with the form they are in, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they could claim a slot.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Anna and Martin will be trying to earn the Czech Republic a slot for the Olympics in Assago tomorrow at the Olympic Qualifying Event in Beijing, China.

@FlossieH came back and commented:

And the final comment came from Norwegian member @norwegianfairytale:

Anna and Martin are currently 5.51 points behind 4th position, Yuna NAGAOKA / Sumitada MORIGUCHI (JPN), and level on points with 6th position, Sofiia HOLICHENKO / Artem DARENSKYI (UKR). Anna, Martin, Sofiia and Artem are currently 3.18 points ahead of 7th position, Audrey SHIN / Balazs NAGY (USA).

Shin / Nagy are at the head of a group of 3 partnerships covered by 0.90 points, stretching down to Júlía Sylvía GUNNARSDÓTTIR / Manuel PIAZZA (ISL) in 9th position, 4.08 points behind Anna and Martin.

Nagaoka / Moriguchi are at the bottom of a group of 3 partnerships covered by 1.60 points, stretching up to Camille KOVALEV / Pavel KOVALEV (FRA) in 2nd position, 7.11 points ahead of Anna and Martin.

At the moment, there are definitely three slots at the Olympics up for grabs, but it could become four. Either way, they would need to infiltrate the group ahead of them. But, it is a big gap to that group. So, as well as having to put in a good Free Skate themselves, they will probably need some of the skaters ahead of them to make mistakes.

Of course, the partnership they are level with are in the same boat. And the group behind them are within striking distance. So, to avoid dropping positions, Anna and Martin have even more reason for needing a good Free Skate.

I don't like to wish misfortune on others. So I will just say that I hope Anna and Martin do have a good Free Skate.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 15:15:30 CST (07:15:30 GMT / 08:15:30 BST / 09:15:30 CEST). So 10h 45m from now.

My fellow British member @FlossieH was a bit more positive:

And our resident video archive list compiler @labgoat was also looking on the positive side:

@Isk looked at the past, present and future in what was a well balanced post:

@auser picked up on something that the commentators also picked up on:

@EdgeCall provided another well balanced post:

German member @Jumping_Bean was doing Play-By-Plays:

And finally, @labgoat came back to comment on the replay of the abourted lift:

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 5.73 points behind 6th position, Audrey SHIN / Balazs NAGY (USA), and level on points with 8th position, Júlía Sylvía GUNNARSDÓTTIR / Manuel PIAZZA (ISL). Anna, Martin, Júlía and Manuel were 7.59 points ahead of 9th position, RYOM Tae Ok / HAN Kum Chol (PRK).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 2.55 points behind 6th position, Shin / Nagy, and 4.08 points ahead of 8th position, Gunnarsdóttir / Piazza.

Wow! In both segments Anna and Martin scored exactly the same points as another partnership. Imagine the odds on that happening! To have a tie in one segment is very rare, but to have a tie in both?! And involving the same partnership?!

Admittedly, they were tied with a different partnership in each segment. Fortunately, in both cases Anna and Martin won the tie breaker. Although, I'm not sure how it was worked out, because in the SP they had the higher TES and lower PCS than Sofiia HOLICHENKO / Artem DARENSKYI (UKR); while in the FS they had the lower TES and higher PCS than Gunnarsdóttir / Piazza.

Unfortunately, they didn't qualify. But, with only three slots officially available, it was always going to be difficult. And I am not sure that competing in another event on a different continent a few days beforehand was a wise decision. Of the three partnerships that did both the Lombardia Trophy and the Olympic Qualifying Event, two of them (Bidar / Valesi and Gunnarsdóttir / Piazza) scored significantly lower in Beijing than in Bergamo. The other partnership, Holichenko / Darenskyi scored a LOT higher in Beijing than in Bergamo But they had a nightmare at the Lombardia, so were a different situation to the other two partnerships.

Nevertheless, Anna and Martin again showed that they are already a strong partnership, and ones to keep an eye on in the seasons to come.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Tayside Trophy Senior Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Anna and Martin finished 5th out of 7 in the SP, with a score of 62.87.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

Looking at the Protocols, there were no issues at all. Not a single negative number appeared on the table. The final element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, was completely neutral. But everything else had positive GOE, ranging from +0.22 for the second element, the Double Axel, to +1.40 for the fourth element, the Axel Lasso Lift.

The Judges marks were all in the 0 to +3 range. And three of the elements had the best set of marks, which consisted of four +2's and one +3. These were the aforementioned Triple Twist; the aforementioned Axel Lasso Lift; and the sixth element, the Backwards Inside Death Spiral.

Anna and Martin are currently 0.81 points behind 4th position, Anastasia VAIPAN-LAW / Luke DIGBY (GBR), and 11.44 points ahead of 6th position, Linzy FITZPATRICK / Keyton BEARINGER (USA). Anna and Martin are at the bottom of a group of 3 partnerships covered by 1.12 points, which is headed by Valentina PLAZAS / Maximiliano FERNANDEZ (USA) in 3rd position.

Anna and Martin are in a very good position here. They are two positions and two points away from a medal, and they have a massive gap behind them. In short, they can afford to really go all out to try to get onto the podium. There is nothing to lose.

So. let's hope they have a good Free Skate and get that 🥉 Bronze Medal!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start today at 14:00:00 BST (13:00:00 GMT / 15:00:00 CEST). So 9 hours from now.

Tayside Trophy Senior Pairs: Results

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYwGsIcp3No

Anna and Martin finished 2nd out of 7 in the FS, with a score of 119.60. This meant that they climbed to 2nd position overall, with a score of 182.47.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

However, some kind soul has uploaded a video of their Free Skate to YouTube, so here is the sort of comment I would have written about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

A CinemaScope Production!

⛪

Beautiful Triple Twist to start with.

Martin took off ahead of Anna in the Side-By-Side jumps, so no synchronisation between them.

They were synchronised for the first jump in the sequence, but not the next two.

Martin nearly tripped over his feet just as he was getting Anna to full height in the lift, but thankfully kept his balance.

Beautiful throw.

Wasn't sure if Anna was going to land the next throw , but she did.

Beautiful Backward Outside Death Spiral.

Beautiful Lift and Choreographic Sequence.

I was worried a couple of times during the next lift, because Martin got a bit unsteady when changing his hands.

But the next lift looked flawless.

And so did the Combination Spin at the end.

The video ended just after Martin set Anna back down, but from the couple of seconds we saw, Martin did look a bit on the tired side. And Anna went straight in to comfort him.

Well, although there were a couple of times when it looked like something was going to go wrong, in the end, it didn't any of those times. They were actually good.

:cheer: WELL DONE ANNA AND MARTIN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Unfortunately, the Protocols are up the creek, with no breakdown of the scores.

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 11.32 points behind 1st position, Sara CONTI / Niccolò MACII (ITA), and 4.41 points ahead of 3rd position, Valentina PLAZAS / Maximiliano FERNÁNDEZ (USA).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 19.30 points behind 1st position, Conti / Macii, and 2.60 points ahead of 3rd position, Chelsea LIU / Ryan BEDARD (USA).

Whilst I thought after the SP that Anna and Martin had a good chance of a medal, it was the 🥉 Bronze Medal I was talking about. I never would have imagined that they would actually win the 🥈 Silver Medal. But they did.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Cup Of Innsbruck Senior Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Anna and Martin finished 1st out of 9 in the SP, with a score of 64.10.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Cup Of Innsbruck.

Looking at the Protocols, there was only one issue. This was with the second element, the Double Axel, which had GOE of -0.33. In terms of Judges marks, it got -1 from all five Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.12 for the final element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, to +2.10 for the fourth element, the Axel Lasso Lift. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3.

Anna and Martin are currently 1.95 points ahead of 2nd position, Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT), and 5.09 points ahead of 3rd position, Irma CALDARA / Riccardo MAGLIO (ITA).

Anna and Martin are really starting to establish themselves in Pairs skating. This is the highest they have ever scored for the Short Programme.

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Although they are leading, Anna and Martin do have to be careful not to make any mistakes, as Gabbie and Luc are within striking distance.

So. let's hope they have a good Free Skate!

Cup Of Innsbruck Senior Pairs FS: Results; Protocols
Cup Of Innsbruck Senior Pairs: Results

No video uploaded yet 😞

Anna and Martin finished 1st out of 8 in the FS, with a score of 106.99. This meant that they remained in 1st position overall, with a score of 182.47.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Cup Of Innsbruck.

Looking at the Protocols, there were three elements with issues. The second element, the Triple Salchow, was downgraded. It got the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.56, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from two Judges; -4 from two Judges; and -3 from Judge 5.

The third element was a sequence of Axels. The first was a double, and the second was invalidated. it had teh second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.43, which meant that it went from having the third lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. it got -5 from two Judges; -4 from two Judges; and -3 from Judge 3.

There was a fall on the sixth element, the Throw Triple Salchow (I am assuming it was Anna). It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.20. It also got -5 from all five Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.50 for the fifth element, the Throw Triple Flip, to +2.10 for the fourth element, the Axel Lasso Lift. And because this lift already had the joint highest Base Value of the programme (along with the ninth element, the Reverse Lassso Lift, which got +1.40 in GOE), it became the highest scoring element of the programme in it's own right.

Apart from a 0 from Judge 4 for the seventh element, the Backwards Outside Death Spiral, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from +1 to +3.

Although they did not have the highest Technical Elements Score of the field (that honour went to the partnership from Iceland in 2nd position), they did have by miles the highest Programme Components Score of the field.

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 4.55 points ahead of 2nd position, Júlía Sylvía GUNNARSDÓTTIR / Manuel PIAZZA (ISL), and 12.57 points ahead of 3rd position, Sophia SCHALLER / Livio MAYR (AUT).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 14.84 points ahead of 2nd position, Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT), and 16.93 points ahead of 3rd position, Gunnarsdóttir / Piazza.

Wow. Not only did they win the 🥇 Gold Medal, but they achieved Absolute PB scores in both segments and overall.

I don't know if they will have heard about it before they skated or not, but this amazing result was a fitting way to honour the head of the Czech Fed, former Pairs skater Stanislav Žídek, who died on Saturday.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Golden Spin Of Zagreb Senior Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Anna and Martin finished 7th out of 16 in the SP, with a score of 58.42.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final and the final round of the Formula 1.

Anna and Martin are currently 1.65 points behind 6th position, Daria DANILOVA / Michel TSIBA (NED), and 0.63 points ahead of 8th position, Chelsea LIU / Ryan BEDARD (USA). All three of them are part of a group where 8 partnerships are covered by 5.38 points, stretching from Irma CALDARA / Riccardo MAGLIO (ITA) in 3rd position, 2.78 points ahead of Anna and Martin, down to Letizia ROSCHER / Luis SCHUSTER (DEU) in 10th position, 2.60 points behind Anna and Martin.
