Anything can happen. But Rossano is "in the loop" when it comes to SoCal figure skating. He usually knows more than he says.
Fair enough...I see no reason to be optimistic.(re. Cohen at least)

and that goes double....umm.....make it triple for Emily.
I thought Emily did OK at SA, was glad to see her and apologize for taking a cheap shot at her.
She doesn't deserve it,,,,,and either does Sasha,
Well, the prospects of both aren't looking so great. But the difference is, I WANT to be optimistic about Hughes but she did nothing at SA that would allow me to be so.
But the GPs aren't the "be-all, end-all" here. The point I think is being missed- the GPs are mainly for testing the waters, getting a rhythm going, and a chance to fix any mistakes.
On FSU they were suggesting that if Cohen by some miracle gets on the Oly team, that she do 4CCs for practice. But in reality, it's not practical because it starts only 4 days after the US Nats ladies event concludes, plus it's all the way in Korea. I don't think we'll be seeing any USA ladies there. But I do wonder whether Yuna will be "encouraged" to compete there since it's in her country.
(Is this thread just going to be a dialogue between you and me?!seems like it is).

Was wondering about this performance....
Pretty polished skating and performing for one so young

She was a pistol back then. :yes:She was a pistol back then.
As a musician, what did you think of Sasha's interpretation of the music in that performance? If I remember correctly there was criticism at the time along the lines that, at 15, how could she dare attempt such a rich and subtle piece as the Mendelssohn violin concerto?
It would have been interesting to see what the judges would have done if she hadn't fallen on the triple loop. Michelle gave a not-so-great performance of the Red Violin, omitting the triple toe-triple toe combination and also falling on her triple loop.
Sasha, however, was not age eligible for worlds, so they probably would have given it to Michelle that year no matter what Sasha did.
Edited to add: IMHO, the following was Sasha's all-time greatest program (from 2002):

Didn't stop them from making Mirai Nagasu the champion in 2008...

There was no US Lady that warranted consideration of taking the title to Worlds that year.

On paper, there was.
But in reality, there wasn't.![]()
No paper, no paper.......big sister was also retired

Yes, but there's someone else you're forgetting. She was an Olympian.![]()

I am wondering if Kristi belongs on the list of great entertainers?
)sorry, but it woudn't have helped K if they gave a her rare papers or a truckload of papers. Maybe a paper dragon for morale purposes.![]()

I think this is such a subjective matter. For me, I prefer Michelle to Sasha because of her ability to make me feel she is skating for me-or as Dick once said,"She makes you love her, makes you feel she loves you. That's a great quality to have." Sasha has a more introverted, private style. I've used this analogy before, but for me, her skating has a snowglobe effect: you are captivated by the beauty, but at a distance.janetfan said:About Sasha and "musicality" it is funny because I have read comments like "Sasha is not really that musical, she is just performing to the music and not reall interpreting it."
