Any Sasha updates?

IF Sasha skates at Nationals, many people will be highly surprised, including many of her fans. I think some people here are just stating the obvious fact that Sasha has withdrawn from all her lead up events (TEB and SA) and that the likelihood of being healthy enough to truly be competitive (without a little "help") is very low. Consider, she hasn't skated competitively in 4 years. She hasn't done a 3Lo, 3F, or 3Lz cleanly in public in 4 years. She admits to having been injurred and unable to train intensely since her announced comeback.

Sasha has not competed under the tough stricture of the current IJS incarnation with heavy UR penalties and - GOEs applied to bad jumps. Many of her jumps in the previous quadrenium under the current rules would received reviews at minimum and UR maximum (two footing issues) along with negative GOEs for inside/out landings, flip outs and the like...

Except. For. Me. Its a burden being the only impartial, non judgemental, "root for everybody" skating fan on this board...sigh... its so hard to be me...

(darn, I miss Michelle... this "maturity" sucks. :scowl::boohoo:)

Hey but guess what, I am now a Lepisto fan after being so mad at her for medaling at SC withe her lacking FS because I just watched the SC Exhibition and Laura did this awesome piece with a a long ribbon attached to the dowel and it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. Not even joking, she looks like a wizardess  . Seriously go watch it

It's about time you realized how cool Laura is.

I love her skating!

I think Stephane Lambiel's situation is similar to Sasha's in many ways. THey both having jumping weaknesses, are amazing artists, took off from competitive skating since 2006 but have been doing shows. Neither skated in the GP this year. How many think that Stepahne has a better chance of doing well at the olympics than Sasha of vice versa?

Oh, Dee... stop it. Calling people Trolls,
KW, this is how rumors get started. I don't think I called anyone a troll. If I were going to be calling anyone a name, troll would be a nice name.

From where I sit, Sasha AND her fans get off easy... not like us long-suffering Kwan fans for whom no one cares for...
Yeah right!!!

All I was saying is that I get super tired of the immature comments....but then it's like it's done so they can get attention. How sad!!!

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but theres a New York Times article on Sasha, published Jan 6. (Sorry if I'm just re-posting)

Cohen Remains the Wild Card in Women’s Skating

Interesting... She sounds pretty certain that she will be there.

But like many, I'll believe it when I see her in the SP warm-up. Unless she waits until the last available second before her music starts and just bails out on the ice...climbing over the audience, still in her skates, to the first availble exit door.

STEPHANE by far....Sasha hasnt competed in the 4 years while Stephane has been a way for liitle more than a season. Plus Stephane can actually land all his jumps (sans 3A), with extraordinary spins, footwork, and expression....sometimes I doubt the motives of Sasha coming back....is it really for the OGM or just the buzz that will surround her and all.

Too bad she can't use the ribbon stick in her LP , then she wouldn't have to do any triples and would still medal  .

Plus, these days she's doing a lot better than Kostner, even with many triples MIA

FYI - Red Dog is one of the most respected, honest, and passionate fans on this site. Its insulting to read your post when he is simply vocalizing the opinions of many. Furthermore, Golden Skate is general skating forum that caters to a diverse fan base. You might want to check out a fan-focused site if your expectation is that all posters must worship where you worship. We do not and that's what makes Golden Skate the best forum on the net... (until the real trolls pop up out of the ground...)

As for RD being hostile to Sasha and her fans... please. He's mellowed in his old age... your fragile emotional state would not been able to handle him in 2006.

Kwanford wife, they were the good old fightin' days--Olympics 2006. I wonder where Realtor Girl and all the other posters are. Red Dog as he was called then, now RD, was one of those gallant posters. We never did figure who he was a fan of. I think that he was always on the winning team.:rofl:

Yes, Stephane has won medals at Worlds/GPF this quadrenium versus not competing for four years. If Stephane can keep his injuries in check, he has a shot to be in the mix.

How have the UR penalties on jumps gotten stricter since 2006? In 2006, underrotated jumps would automatically get at least -2 GOE in *addition* to being downgraded. Now, the -GOE is no longer mandated, and the judges aren't even told if the jump was downgraded, so skaters lose fewer points when they have UR's called.

Having said that, I do not know if Sasha has mastered the current step sequence and spin level requirements, which have changed each year since 2006.

I didn't mean YOU were calling people trolls... The other poster... no rumor mongering over here... but did you hear that Sasha is plotting with Speedy to ensure she not only wins the OGM with two spins and snap but that she's also secretly posting here under RD's screen name?!?

I too get tired of the silliness... now, I'm all for a good, snarky, sassy comment - but for some reason this season has been filled with more drama than actual skating... there are other boards for that. Those folks should take that somewhere else. Or at least be funny. ;)

her ribbon routine was a blatant copy of Katia's ribbon routine from the season prior... though IIRC she got Katia's "blessing" if you will...

wasn't impressed with "that" Sasha... she did a lot of copying before she came into her own, which is one of the reasons I didn't jump on the bandwagon right away.

RD was, is, and forever will be a Kimmie fan... He truly loves her... I think they're going to prom together!

actually considering Kim's a big girl now I think they already went to prom

you're such a sweetheart these days KW... better watch it, or you'll lose that reputation of yours

   That and it gets so boring after the 400th post that she'll probably withdraw.

I don't know if you were here when Fetal Attraction would post. Even though he could get snarky his posts were creative and ultra amusing. You know the kind you read and spit coffee or beverage of choice all over the screen.

He adored Michelle but would make funny comments about her costume. Like the top of the blue one from 2003. He made the comment that it looked like someone threw a bowl of oatmeal at her.

Is it just me - or was Sasha always a little better dressed than Michelle?
I typically liked both of their dresses - but I would have to give a slight nod to Sasha.
