Competitive adult skater here (38, lifelong skater, competing at the Adult Gold level in the USA). Throughout this year, I have been struggling with posterior tibial tendonosis and chronic interstitial tearing (yes, I got an MRI). Injections didn’t help. My orthopedic doctor has referred me to a podiatrist and I’m waiting for an appt. Meanwhile, I am in PT, hoping to build strength.
I’m curious to know if other skaters have dealt with this condition (PTTD/posterior tibial tendonosis or tendonitis/flatfoot), and if yes, did you find any great tools for relieving pressure on the inner ankle while wearing a skate? I’ve been playing around with various gel padding and haven’t found a winner yet. An ankle punch also didn’t seem to help. I wear custom Riedell Arias, so my boots are pretty stiff.
