Anyone with some news on Nicole Watt, last year she was not doing well and she did not qualify for any events this year because she did not skate the long program and her short was a disaster, she has arthritis and it was in remition and now is back has they said last national

She will be competing at Nationals-that's all the info I have.

I will try to post some notes as I am attending Nationals this year.

Hi chania36, :)

I, too, am a fan of this wonderful young lady....and will always be so...once a fan always a fan is my motto.

As to your question, the following is what I have read the past few months on the net ~ the experimental medication she was using to control her juvenile arthritis had been discontinued and as a result she was basically bedbound in the sense that she was at the hospital all the time in order to receive her meds. However, recent reports said that was several months ago. And now she is on some other experimental medication (maybe the same one) and is doing much better. As a result, she has been practicing and just recently skated at Saskatchewan's Sectionals (only entrant btw) and will be making an appearance at Canadian Senior Nationals next week. GOOOOOOO NICOLE! (:^D

***Note: recent reports also say that she is enrolled at Saskatchewan University as a pre-med student - she has always wanted to go into this field IIRC.***

Peace & Love, Nadine

P.S. I might have some recent info. from Nicole in the coming month b/c I just recently wrote to her.....which I have done in the past for encouragement......and if I hear word from her I promise to post it (no lie).

:love:GOOOOOOOOOOOOO NICOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info. kindredspirit7,

No matter.........Nicole has always been & will continue to be an inspiration for me by example (i.e. perseverance & heart in whatever one loves to do).........she brings back memories of my big brother whom developed severe rheumatoid arthritis to the point that he was literally bedbound. However, he was just as determined as Nicole, and the last year and a half of his life at 39 he was able to get around just as much as Nicole (just not figure skate is all, lol). I'll continue to follow her progress & cheer her on whether it be going to university full-time or skating or both (no lie).

Peace & Love, Nadine

:love:WTG, NICOLE! FROM SASKATCHEWAN SECTIONALS TO NATIONALS! YEAH! (and this after only being on the ice a few months)

Sad to hear Nicole won't be at Canadian Nationals. I agree that she is an inspiration. Not only fighting her arthritis, but competing at an elite level in a difficult sport.

Best wishes for your health, Nicole. Here's hoping we skating fans get to see you skate again, because the very few times I did get to see you, I enjoyed your skating!

YES!!!!

As promised, I'm here to post news about Nicole Watt.........just received word from her today via snail mail.......direct quote as follows:

"Nadine,
Thank you for your card! I am still going after my dreams in figure skating and continuing to love the sport. Thanks for being a fan."

Peace & Love, Nadine

P.S. Sorry so late, but I only received this news today (no lie). Here's hoping that those that were interested a few months ago will still be today. Thanks so much. :)

:love:GOOOOOOOOOOO NICOLE!!!

Hi Lynn226! :)

If you don't mind, I'd prefer to send you a private message with her address, b/c the one she gave me is in Saskatchewan. Unlike the public one she used to have when she was on The Canadian Team.

Peace & Love, Nadine

P.S. Check your messages. ;)

EDITED TO ADD: btw I turned on the "Private Messaging" service for this only - now I've disconnected it - don't like using it; prefer to correspond on the MB instead, but obviously not this time. Thanks for understanding.
