What the title said. :)

I am in Eastern Pennsylvania and I can’t see the sky. Weather amazes me sometimes.

We rarely see any smoke in the Vancouver area even if the rest of the province is blazing (which it isn't at the moment). Protected by a ring of low mountains, and the ocean on one side. I can only remember maybe two or three separate days in random years where I saw yellow smoke in the air outside thanks to unusual winds. During the years I did live in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, in the 80s and 90s, wildfires weren't yet an annual problem so I didn't see it there either.

Evidently the fires this year are in Ontario, but on the Manitoba border. Three years ago I could actually smell smoke, I think those were in Quebec. Wind patterns are fascinating.

As an aside, I have managed to track down Spousal Unit's Canadian forbears, despite the incredibly common name of Jackson (forbears' names not Spousal Unit's). They emigrated to western Ontario from Scotland, grandpa was born and raised in Canada and then decided North Dakota was the place to be? Interesting choice.

So now I feel even more kindly to our Canadian friends. :)

wow.. crazy stuff

The winds are very strong right now.. which makes our air quality better and sending the problems down south but it's a struggle for the rooftop terrasse. I had to bring Gabriele (my frangipani) inside because I am afraid that it would break (it's already off-axis, just like real life GabFran). One of my zinnia just received a tutor because it was turning into Pisa tower.. and fun stuff, one of my pinwheels flew away. I hope a child will find it and enjoy it.

I went to walk to my local pizza place, three blocks from my house. I take back about it not being that bad. The smoke is dense enough to cover the top of really tall trees a block away, the acrid smell is very strong, and now my throat hurts.

this is at 190. I cannot imagine the cities surrounding the Great Lakes now at the levels posted by @4everchan

When it's over 50, it's recommended to wear a mask, close your windows and stay indoors. Good you didn't go too far out.

I'd actually never heard of an AQI or that it was something I could look up. My education has expanded. At the moment, it's 42 in Richmond, BC. Something new to look for in addition to "Is it going to rain today?" (Silly question here. Of course it is. 🌂)

well.. that's my issue. I know where to find all of these things... and well, it get be triggering anxiety at times. Like.. oh my god.. my plants will burn, break because of the wind, my lungs will crash while I am swimming, there will be a power outage, how much microplastic have I ingested, will my dishwasher detergent kill me or I will catch a virus for which I am fully vaccinated against. etc.

:)

I am better nowadays but I had a phase where too much information was just too much. So please navigate carefully.
