Did you hear about an actual petition in Baden-Württemberg? The parents of school children do not want that the teachers speak in the class about homosexuality. Many thousands people support this petition. They all think homosexuals are lesser beings. This is the situation in Germany.
It's a delicate situation to deal with all over the world. But you're talking about a petition by many thousands in a country with 82 million inhabitants, not a law passed by the state. So, no, "this is not the situation in Germany".
Even those thousands who signed the petition don't want it to be illegal for a gay couple to hold hands in the streets. I really don't see much of a connection here.
