hi!!
recently ( 3 months ago) i bought Jackson artistes, im satisfied with them and they have a lot of support left but i’m moving up levels quickly, im going to a figure skating camp for beginners where i’ll learn salchow and toe loop, im on waltz right now and i don’t feel the best support in my ankle. I also think my rocker may have gotten shaved off by a sharpener.. i really want a skate with a bigger / better toepick and a easier rocker,
for reference im a teen skater who’s 5’5 and 150 pounds

please help me with a boot and blade combo, i have pretty normal feet..deff not narrow enough for ridell! thank you so much!!

Welcome! We need a few more bits of information. Shape of your toes? Height of your arches?

Where do you live? Did you buy your skates from a skate shop where you were professionally fitted and your Jacksons were advised? Or did you choose them yourself at a rink pro shop, a sporting goods store, or buy your skates online, none of which methods of choosing are recommended. If we know where you live, someone can steer you to a nearby skate shop where you can get properly measured and fitted for boots and blades suitable for your feet, size, and level of ability. The shop will also have or can recommend someone who can do a better sharpening job. Good luck!

hi and welcome! I'm going to tell you from experience, with your height/weight stats those elles are not stiff enough for you and never were. Do not jump in them.

What is your foot shape? And where are you in this world that I (we) can suggest a proper fitter for you. Then I can suggest what would work for you as far as boots/blades etc.

Good luck!

hihi! i currently live in calgary and my toe shape is tapered! i also have normal arch and I didn’t get them fitted 😞 i tried them on at a sportchek and then bought online, i got the same size as my shoe size because my feet are constantly growing and my mom said to but that was a mistake because my feet slide around now 😣

Yes, your boots should be a smaller size than your street shoes so that your feet don't move at all within them. That's dangerous and can cause falls and injuries. A proper fitter will measure your feet and ankles all around, not just the length and width, since the boot has to be snug around your foot everywhere.

All toes are tapered, but that varies whether the taper is straight down from the big toe to the little ("Egyptian" feet like mine) or if the big and second toe are the same length, and variations of that. If you click on @Ic3Rabbit's link, you can see charts of the various toelines and decide which yours are. It makes a difference on which brand of skate boots you then need, as the brands have different shapes to their soles that accommodate different feet.

I'm in the Vancouver area, but am not familiar with Calgary's skate shops. I hope someone else can give you some suggestions there. Your local club(s) will have a shop or two that their competitors prefer. Definitely not Sportchek, though!
