Boot advice for beginner male skater

Hi everyone,

I am looking for boot recommendations. I would love to hear any suggestions you have. I am male, 185cm height, 75kg weight, beginner skater but excited to train seriously. Street shoe size 40,5-41EU, foot is 25.8cm long and 11.5cm wide at widest point in forefoot.

Hi and welcome! Thank you for the information, but I need a bit more to give you proper boot suggestions. What is your foot type? What are your arches like: Very high/high/normal/low/flat?

Other than that, where are you located so I (we) can suggest a proper fitter?

Once I have that info I can give you all the info you need.

When you find your fitter (didn't Ic3Rabbit already send you a name in your state? I was sure I saw that in a response to your post a few days ago) don't be surprised when they bring out a boot that is one or two sizes smaller than your street shoes. Your shoes are solid on the soles but softer on top. Skate boots need to be stiff all around, although they can be heat-moulded somewhat if there are areas that pinch. Your fitter will take circumference measurements of your foot and ankles, not just the length and width.

Thank you! Yes, a name was suggested in the forum post a couple days ago, but it's rather far away from where I live - in my state but a totally different area. I'll make the trip if there is not anyone closer.

I live in rural Virginia, could reasonably get to Richmond or DMV metro area with a long drive but would rather find a fitter in Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, or Culpeper if at all possible

For the requested info: I have a weird shaped foot that is sort of a mixture between the Egyptian and Roman types. The first three toes are around the same length, fourth toe slightly shorter, fifth toe a lot shorter than the fourth one. Arches low but not extremely flat, as I started to train balance a little bit more I've noticed them getting less flat.

You'll want to visit a good fitter as feet come in all sorts of unique shapes. Approach some experienced skaters and coaches at your rink and ask them if they have any recommendations in your area...it's worth a bit of travel to get to somebody good if the closest pro shop is not so great. I would personally recommend looking at Risport RF3 Pro or Jackson Premiere - since you're an adult and excited to train, you want something decently supportive. Buying more basic means you'll end up needing to replace them a lot sooner and they won't carry you as far. Similarly with blades - lower level boots come with blades, but those blades aren't very good. You're better off buying intermediate blades like the John Wilson Coronation Ace or MK Professional and not being held back sooner than later. But you may find you prefer a totally different brand after visiting a fitter and if possible, trying some options on.

Hi! For boots, look at Riedell Bronze Star, Graf Richmond Special boots. I'd suggest Risport but your stats are going to require a higher/more expensive level boot. Blades: Standard MK Pro or JW Coro Ace.
