In re Young

Wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not. When I was young I was assaulted by a rather well known coach-as was my mother! by the same coach. But in our day, we said nothing. So glad things have changed and kids are not afraid to speak up. After my coach assaulted me I think he went on to coach for another 25 years or so. God knows how many girls he molested or tried to molest. (He is deceased now)

Scary. The reporter was careful to say there were no charges laid, but when you start to get that number of complaints, it tells its own story. Who else shuddered that his new job is as a photographer for young teen girl models?

What is scary to me is that despite the issues that led to Young leaving Simsbury, and the fact that the USFS barred him for life, another rink happily hired him and students followed him there to work with him. What could be worth ruining children's lives? As the parent of a young girl, there is NO WAY on this earth that I would allow my child to work with a coach who was BANNED by their National governing body. These were kids and sadly, no one kept them away from that predator. I assume the parents feel absolutely horrible after the fact but not all lessons had to be learned the hard way. Ms. Roos suffered the public embarassment and took the risk of putting the information out there so others wouldn't have to be Young's victim. I recognize that acusations are just that but there was a hearing and the USFS felt there was compelling enough evidence to ban that well known, formerly well respected coach for life. Why don't we put identified predators out of business by not allowing our children to work with them? I hope criminal charges are filed against Bob Young and he goes to jail for a long time or at least is restrained from being alone with children. I hope he hasn't molested any of the young models he is photographing but what are the chances of that?
