Broadway music suggestions?

I am doing a solo performance for my rink, but the music has to be from a broadway musical. I’m not very educated when it comes to broadway, and I want a song that’s serious but maybe sad. Does anyone know about any music pieces?

It depends on your age? Male or female skater? On My Own from Les Miserables comes to mind first. Far From The Home I Love from Fiddler on the Roof. Lift The Wings from Riverdance (if that counts as a Broadway musical).

OK, so any of those I suggested could work. There aren't too many roles in musicals for younger singers your age, and those that are tend to be more upbeat and cheerful, like Who Will Buy? from Oliver, or the children's songs in Sound of Music. Although I suppose Edelweiss from the S of M would work. Not sad, but a gentle song. Otherwise you get into songs from Disney movies for really young children and those aren't Broadway shows anyway. There's Castle On A Cloud from Les Miserables, but that doesn't really have a very interesting melody. It could work, if you used a vocal version so you could interpret the lyrics, but it doesn't have much musical "shape" to make an interesting skating program. Edelweiss has a prettier melody, with a waltz rhythm.

I think something from les mis. But a lot of people do l. M. You could do something from the Cinderella musical, and or phantom of the opera. spec think of me/ wishing you were esc. and or angel of music. There is also the greatest showman, tight rope is beautiful.

Hadestown has some beautiful music. But go forth with caution: the wrong combination of songs for a 4 minute program can sound heinous and nonsensical.
