Button, Gannon, etc working for NBC?

A lot of skating fans disliked Sandra's commentary long before SLC. Before SLC, the main complaint people had towards Sandra's commentary was she tended to be biased towards programs she choreographed herself.

But I actually didn't mind her too much at all yesterday. Maybe the fact Sandra doesn't do much choreography anymore--at least not for eligible skaters--has something to do with it. :p

You mean since they only go to either Tarasova, Nichol, Morozov, or Wilson now?

During the broadcast, Sandra Bezic showed that she know little about CoP. She spoke about skaters being penalized for underrotating jumps---in the Grade of Execution. Yes, the GOE is lowered, but the major hit is in the technical score, where the skater gets a downgrade to a lower level jump.

The result can be disastrous. Mira Leung's 2A was downgraded in the SP. The 2A is a required element, so instead of getting 3.5 points for a 2A, she got a 0.80 base value for the 1A plus a mandatory -.48 deduction, and only 0.32 points for that jump.

In the SP, Mai Asada got downgraded on the 3Z2T for a toe axel on the 2T. That made the combination 3Z1T, which took away a required element (a combination must be at minimum two double jumps). The 7.3 point base value of a 3A2T was downgraded to 6.4 points, and with the mandatory GOE deduction, she got just 3.8 points for the combination.

In the SP, Emily Hughes was downgraded on both the solo 3F and the 3Z in her combination. Instead of 5.5 points for the 3F, she got just 0.70 points, since a solo triple jump is a requirement in the SP. She got just 2.76 points for her downgraded 3Z2T. Those downgrades cost her 9.34 points and took her completely out of medal contention.

Thank goodness we won't have to listen to Scott & Sandra the entire GP series. I would rather listen to Dick & Peggy any day
Vash, I totally, 100% agree with you. I had to tape SA and when I started watching, I said OHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO!! I was wishing I could turn them off but all I could hear was the screeching!!! Yes, Peggy and Dick any day. I really like Paul W too. The other person that just irritates the "H" out of me is Kurt Browning, I hope we don't see him this year.

I like Dick and Scott, like many others I've leaned most of what I know of figure skating from watching Dick, the man knows his skating and like somone else said if the skaters would just listen to what he's said about their performaces, they could learn something that just might help them a little.
As for Sandra just happy didn't have to listen to her this time. And for national will be watching most on icenetwork. OMG just remember I'll have to listen to Nancy don't know which is worse.

One of my favorite all time Dick Button moments. Is when they had some kind of Push Dick's Button's (Ask Dick questions) and they had some of the skaters ask him questions. Alissa looked kind of annoyed by asking the question (to be honest) or like it was a joke.

But Kimmie asked him a question, and she asked him about skating with a ball. Apparently Dick told her one time that she should skate with a beach ball in her arms, and Kimmie from the way she was asking the question thought it was a silly old man thing.

Then, when Dick answered the question, the look on Kimmie's face was priceless, because Dick was totally serious about it with her. (He wants to fix her arms) LOL!

Although I don't mind Dick in the booth, I have to admit that I won't miss Peggy and her standard "you can tell that she's really feeling the music" type comments at all, lol!!

Thank goodness we won't have to listen to Scott & Sandra the entire GP series. I would rather listen to Dick & Peggy any day (although my real preference is for minimum commentary).

the prospect of watching the entire season with Scott is enough to make me a faithful youtube watcher.

Button, Gannon, etc. working for NBC?

Count me among those who like Dick Button's commentary. To me he is Mr. Figureskating. I feel his comments are usually correct and meant to improve the figureskaters performance. Dick appreciates the the grace and beauty of figureskating as much as the athletic aspect. I respect the fact that he calls it like it is.
