YEA SASHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up next: Alissa Czisny (USA)

GO SASHA!! Darn close to World's 2005 LP score. I hope it looks as good on tape as it sounds!!!

Sasha's score will be hard to beat. (Her silver medal finish at Worlds last year was 124.61.)

But here's something crazy. If Sasha had skated in the men's division she would have beat them all in tech, but finished last in PCS.

Actually, that is one of the knocks on the New Judging System -- it rewards women who skate like men and men who skate like women.

2 Kimmie MEISSNER USA 109.08 59.21 49.87 6.50 5.92 6.58 6.17 6.00 0.00 #3

Go Kimmie!!!!!

Current Standings:
1. Sasha Cohen (USA)
2. Kimmie Meissner (USA)
3. Alissa Czisny (USA)

Up next: Shizuka Arakawa (JPN)

Looks like strong TES for Kimmie (especially in the jump department) but MUCH weaker PCS (not surprising given her age / experience). I HOPE USFSA gets the judges score sheets up as fast as the folks running the Japan International did. I can stand to wait for the video if I can HAVE MY SCORESHEET FIX, DAMMIT!! oops... :)

GO SHIZ!

OK, here comes a stupid question. Are these scores weighted in any way? When I add up the 5 element scores I don't get the subtotal on my screen.

What am I doing wrong?

I am very anxious to see what jumps were completed by the ladies. So glad Sasha will medal, hopefully it will be gold.

I was just wondering the very same thing! :)

3. Shizuka Arakawa (JPN)

As Doggygirl says, the factor for the component score is 1.6.

For men, it is 2.0. The idea is that the men are supposed to be able to get tech score about 25% higher than the ladies, so they try to scale the PCS by the same ratio. (2.0/1.6 = 1.25.)

Well, looks like I was off again, what's new

So...Cohen is cruising to victory right now. I can't believe this.

Why not? What is the big surprise? Anyway, Joanie isn't done yet.

But who are the judges?

Because, if Kimmie was able to beat Arakawa...wow, is this giving me some crazy thoughts or what??

Unless the judges are biased, but I'll wait until I see the skates to make any real judgements.

Oh yeah, forgot about Joannie. So Go Joannie, try and see if you can win this event...

Not sure why this surprises you if you've been reading the score sheets for the last two seasons under NJS (COP). Sasha has consistently done very well in PCS and in non-jump elements relative to competition. Jump execution has been the up/down for her (and overall, she's done very well even with some consistency problems.) From the look of things, her jumps were more consistent tonight then usual, and her usually consistent things were as usual, consistent.
