This calls for a letter writing campaign to TNT! Email, phone & snail mail, do them all if you can then pass this info on! Do not delay or we will be going through a longer skating drought than usual!

Re: COI not on TV this year!

I guess they're trying to make more people come and see it live ($$$), so it's not necessarily TNT's decision.

Well considering the USFSA could care less about

selling tickets to events because it is the TV $$$ that keep things going I think it is more likely TNT didn't want to show skating when the ratings are coming down :-(

Re: Well considering the USFSA could care less about

I just can't believe it. First they take the spring/summer COI away from most of the cities. Then they don't broadcast it on television. Kind of sad for those of us who just don't have a choice. I went to see the winter tour of COI and it just wasn't worth the price of the tickets.

I guess we won't get to see many of the new exhibition numbers until next year.

Re: Well considering the USFSA could care less about

Oh now I am really ticked. First of all, they are not coming to Omaha, which if I remember correctly from last year it was almost a full house. They will be going to Ames Iowa which I don't understand at all. Council Bluffs has a new arena and could hit at least 4 surrounding states. I was thinking about going to the Ames one because I want to see Sasha and Evgeni but now I am not so sure. Now, they aren't even going to broadcast it, I could just spit nails.

COI

This is not the first year COI did not show on TV.
In 2001 They did not show in Minneapolis and I don't
think they were on TV that year either.

We went to Chicago to see the show and it was
worth it.

Re: COI

Don't make the assumption that this decision is COI's. It is more likely that no TV producer would pay them for the product (the right to tape the show) because 1) the telecast did not prove profitable last year or 2) they perceive that the TV appetite for skating is down. My guess is that Collins would sell those rights (as he has almost every other year) in a second if he could - I don't think anyone is making offers.
