Compulsory dance

chuck, many thanks for the info, I saw your post earlier on the ISU board, and re-registerd there, having not posted for years, but I'm waiting to be activated by Admin. Can I ask you a question about the Judges?

He is really a Brit, being a Dance Coach over many years, and all this season acting as a Judge in British domestic events and the GB Nats. How is it that he can Judge internationally for Israel and for GB at home in the same season?

Thanks for any info, as I can't find anything out about the rules.

It is the same Gary Hoppe. He's been judging for Israel for many years. Several Israeli judges have come from other countries. Katalin Alpern is originally from Hungary. Alfred Korytek, from Ukraine, once judged for the Soviet Union and got caught in a cheating incident.

The CD starts at 11pm EDT. The time difference is usually 14 hours, but last week the US went on early Daylight Savings, and none of the other countries did.

Time for the last call!!

Last call!!

What's your pick for top 3 of CD? What's your pick for top 3 of final standings?

I'm not that interested in dancing. However, I am interested to see how the results will match our predictions.

It's so hard to pick but if there is a team that is most likely guaranteed a medal it's Domnina and Shabalin.

As for the gold I like to see Dubreuil and Lauzon win or Belbin and Agosto or Delobel and Schoenfelder. Pretty much anybody but Domnina and Shabalin.

Top three - CD's might be:

1. Oksana DOMNINA / Maxim SHABALIN
2. Albena DENKOVA / Maxim STAVISKI
3. Marie-France DUBREUIL / Patrice LAUZON

Top three - Final Results possibly:

1. Marie-France DUBREUIL / Patrice LAUZON
2. Tanith BELBIN / Benjamin AGOSTO
3. Oksana DOMNINA / Maxim SHABALIN

Let's face it... this comp is wide open so, these results could be any kind of mix at the end.

My last call

3 minutes to go, here's my last call.

top 3 after CD
1. Bulgarian pair
2. Russian pair
3. American pair

Final standing remains the same.

I don't know if it should be allowed, but I guess it goes on around the world, so any help he can give to the Kerrs at this event, we are grateful. ;)

I know him of old as a Dance coach from Lee Valley rink in London, he coached Liz Coates & her partner Alan Abretti when they competed internationally in 1986. I don't think he's ever actually lived in Israel, but I presume he must have a passport? Anyway, I guess the Israeli's want to have *a Judge* on the Panel, and if they have no-one qualified at home, they recruit from abroad.

Just to update a bit. An article in my local paper this morning said that Scott and Tessa wanted to skate first.

None of the other countries except for their little brother up north (Canada) :) . So now the time difference is 13 hours (EST is now GMT-4 because of the early switch). Japan does not have the concept of Daylight Savings Time and neither does China (for those wondering).

This website should help most people determine the time difference between Tokyo and where they live.

OK, I have to say it: "Saltypig" has got to be right up there for the all-time cool login name! :agree:
