Daylight Savings Time

I just wanted to remind everyone here in the US that Daylight savings time begins this weekend. So on Sunday Morning at 2 am (or Saturday night at 2 am depending on how you look at it ) remember to turn your clocks back one hour.

I thought I forgot because my DVR turned its self back last weekend. It did the samething last fall when we had to fast forward one hour. Does make you stop for minute and think did I forget to change the clocks.
Not big fan of daylight savings time it's dark when I go to work and its dark when I come home unless I go out for lunch don't see daylight till my day off.

Watching the news last night they had a study of Heart-attacks during these times - not sure why they would. It showed 5% more Heart-attacks during the spring ahead and 5% less during the fall back.

Oh Ben Franklin what have you done to the hearts of Americans.

I love falling back!
I used to... And now I have a baby... He normally wakes up every morning at 7 - what do you want to bet that it will be at 6 after the time change?! Likewise, I usually put him to bed at 8:30; my guess is that he'll be tired by 7:30 after the time change, meaning I'll have to rush home and have very little time to spend with him before having to feed, bath, and put him to bed. Now, if I were really wise, I'd just to go to sleep an hour earlier myself, waking up earlier, coming to work earlier, and leaving work earlier. But, realistically, what are the chances of me actually doing that ?!

Mine is not either and I had the same thing happen. It has happened every year since I had the thing in 2000. One week early every year, but it gets the spring forward correct each time? I check to see that it is on Mountain zone every year also - don't know why I bother - so I just lived with it until this year and Jia said it could confuse her with her pills and al the baby diaper changing tracking etc...

funny thing is it is 'sposed to be looking for DST info?????

it's because of that dang bill Bush signed early on in his administration that changed the dates of Daylight Savings... to make it longer... or whatever. Annoying as all get out because the VCRs made and bought before it went into effect never got the memo.

Thanks Toni, figures Bush would change something and leave it wrong for everyone else to deal with.

Is Sara going to get that fixed!?

it's not th end of the world, and while I don't like it - either way it makes no difference for those of us in alaska... besides, Bush just signed it... Congress proposed and voted on it... and they're supposed to be our voice.

SaraH will have more important issues to deal with should she be elected.

but I'm getting political, and we have a different forum for that. ;)

The bill that Bush signed was suppossed to save money and energy!! I don't think that did either and probably caused more energy from the carbon dioxide that everyone is emitting from being so angry that their electronics are all messed up!!

Well Ant it's a panasonic and it's about 5/6 yrs old and just didn't get the time change memo..

I remember when the hodgepodge of local daylight savings conventions were standardized by federal law in the 1960s. People rose up in arms, calling it a Communist plot.

Those clever communists (who were well known to have infiltrated the U.S. State Department), wanted the U.S. to go on daylight savings time so as to confuse the cows. Much like Ptichka's baby, the cows' schedule would be thrown off. They would stop giving milk, causing a famine and making it easy for Russia to take over the U.S. altogether.

In recent decades, Israel had a very lively debate about DST. Religious parties wanted DST to go into effect after Passover, and end before Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year in fall, sometimes in September and sometimes in October). Secular parties wanted it to start earlier and end later. The final compromise wasn't reached until 2005, when it was decided that DST would start last Friday before April 2nd (regardless of the Passover; note that weekend in Israel is Friday and Saturday) and end the weekend between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement 8 days after Rosh Hashabah).

Until this decision, the ministry set the dates for DST each year! This has frustrated Microsoft so much, they just disabled the "adjust for DST" option on Israeli Windows! Palestinians, BTW, have their own DST rules independent of Israel.

I wish they would change it so it's always the same. Preferably. dst all the time. It's ridiculous to keep changing. I'm too old for that.

Canada Now Coincides with USA Time Wise...

Traditonally we Canucks would have already turned out clocks back just around a week or so ago however a couple of years ago it was decided by our government to have our daylight savings time change to coincide with the US.

To say the least foks here were not happy about the change. In fact, I almost forgot it is this weekend!

Good thing I read this post!

At first when it happened, I had thought the power went out during the night then I saw all the times changed everywhere I went out. I guess I do not pay attention to enough things. :p
