Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Exactly, that's why it was so brave to do. Good for them they survived. Now vacation time :cheer: My feed kept on going in and out. I practically only saw the smiles at the end.

they get a minimum of 14,000 each for coming to Tokyo. I think they are well compensated for their troubles.

As if the Russians didn't have a lot to say about the Olympic format and make it to their advantage.

I didn't read as a complain, just stating facts and saying calm down everybody. I agree with him on this one. I don't care that much about team events. They are fun to watch but not that important in all honesty. In the Olympic Games though this event does have a certain importance because it does bring medals in the total number of medals per country. Besides, the team event in the OG was an event wanted by the ISU, not the Russian Fed in particular, if I'm not mistaken? The format was not decided by them either. There is a reason why Japan choose to gives more weight to the singles skating. Because they are very weak in ID and Pairs. I'm not complaining about Japan and the WTT, their money their rules, but I don't see what advantage Russia took that others couldn't. The fact that Russia, USA, Canada, or other countries have good skater, or at least above average, in all disciplines it's not their fault and it actually express more correctly the idea of a Team Event.

The current WTT format, which gives more weight to the singles skating, certainly disadvantages Canada, but the $1,000,000 put up by the Japanese is a very big benefit to the skaters. If Russia (or Canada) is willing to put up $1,000,000 in prize money, plus the costs of the event, then they can propose their own event to the ISU! And I say this as a Canadian skating fan (as well as a fan of Ruslena).

And that's about the only benefit. Which is great for the skaters - as well as fun for the fans of FS - don't get me wrong. But in terms of results it doesn't bring anything to a country, or a skater, IMO.
All he's saying, and I share the same opinion, take it for what it is. Have fun, cheer, celebrate, take the money, whatever, and that's it.

I noticed him too. ;) He has become such "man"!

Well I meant easy with Elena who I consider to be the goods but I must admit Ruslan is growing into a pretty handsome dude so she better be easy with him too. I mean blades are sharp and foot placement is key on certain lifts :hopelessness: No need to damage any of the goods this team has to offer;)

What were those black outfits they had on. I prefer simple and sophisticated for appearance.

Oh okay. I thought you meant it's easy to look like that when you have the goods.
