We don`t know what the judges are telling G/P and I/Z. Halina Gordon-Poltorak was on the technical panel at two competitions I/Z were in, maybe she and other judges are telling them to keep their SDs, because they are the only teams to take a risk. As much as I love W/P, their SD is as old-fashioned as you can get, C/B`s SD is downright cheesy, G/P and I/Z are the only top teams to try something new.

Sometimes, it feels like the technical committee is setting one set of rules, but the judges are applying a complete different one. People complain about the rules and that true dancing isn`t rewarded anymore, but if you read in the handbook for Ice Dance, there are actually rules set in place that reward having transitions in dance holds and complex choreography, but they are just not being applied in practice. Otherwise, I/Z would have never received 9s in transitions for their Appassionata FD or S/K for their open Bocelli program.

If I/Z are not rewarded for their Frida program, maybe the best thing will be to go back to open skating for next season. I know it`s a depressing thought, but maybe that`s what they have to do to win.
 
So mad about the PCS, it was much better than in China and they should've gone over 100 here for sure.
 
I really enjoyed their Frida today :love: PCS are better than yesterday, though perhaps still not quite as high as I wish, but with them skating so early I think that's to be expected. I don't know what the deduction is for...
 
They skated so well!

But I knew they'd not get the marks they deserve thanks to the starting order. 49 PCS is an absolute joke. Three marks less than China for a much better performance.

The good news are that their TES is where it should be, I agree that the PCS are absolutely and 100% ridiculous. SS and Transaitions barely above 8? Are they kidding?

TAT apparently complimented them during the warm-up.

That is absolutely BOGUS!! No wonder people say ice dance is not a true sport. What was that?

Guys we really can't worry about it. I'm also sad they aren't higher but they skated early and were punished for skating early. We all know it's not like they are the first team this has ever happened to- in fact it happens to someone at almost every competition. As someone else said, the TES is where it should be, they just have to gain some consistency and the PCS will come.
 
I think it`s the performance I/Z needed in view of Nationals. It`s better than M/K`s and S/B`s PB, so at least the qualification for the Euro`s team is likely to happen.
 
I loved their performance so much. A bit peeved at the PCS but I think they'll need to focus on Russian Nationals now. Tweak all that needs fixing.

Well, I`m not sure what to do with this result.

I/Z`s TES was very close to C/L`s and W/P`s, but their PCS is a nightmare if you consider how much better Frida is compared to Appassionata. It looks like they are losing ground to S/K, which isn`t dramatic, because I/Z are good enough to fight back. I now that people are suggesting a coaching change, not to get the levels, but for GOE and politics. Maybe a solution would be to spend some time with Igor. Kustarova is as good as him to get the levels, this year even a little better, but he is a master in gaining GOE. C/L are also still training in Italy, but used to spend time with Shpilband for few weeks and it gave them the Euros and Worlds title in 2014.
 
Protocols are out. I/Z had the same base value as S/K, but lost about 2 points in the GOE. There were plenty of 7s in the PCS, too much IMO and not enough 9s.

I've heard two versions now but as you have mentioned, nothing official yet. I hope they're okay.

It's called the Mao Asada Sochi effect. F*ck up the SP/SD badly, your PCS for the FD/LP will s*ck. (Despite placing third in the LP at Sochi, Mao lost the PCS to: Julia Lipnitskaya, Carolina Kostner, Yuna Kim and Adelina Sotnikova. She never lost PCS to Julia/Adelina prior to Sochi. And she was almost tied with Gracie on PCS - despite the fact that both Gracie and Julia fell. She lost to Adelina the PCS by 5 points).
Lesson to be learned: never fell on your element in the SD, you are pretty much burried in the standings and it's irrelevant how much better you skate your FD

I just have to hope it's because of the starting order. One judge have them 6s & 7s?? and there aren't many +3s on the GOE - I don't think they are quite there yet on the lifts, but the spins, twizzles & footwork definitely deserved +2 at least. The twizzles were so fast and so close to each other! (And get only earned 0.07 more in GOE than teams that had obvious control & synchronicity issues :disapp:)
