Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I would also agree that their FD isn't nearly as bad as people think. It's no artistic masterpiece, but it does what it needs to do. Look at this fancam of the middle of their FD here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP0sBQRzC74

I think the program was meant to show off their skating skills, and it seems to do that perfectly. Look at their speed, their ice coverage, their flow. I think that's why it's getting such high PCS. It's easy enough for a new team to perform, while showcasing one of the best things about this pairing. I feel like Averbukh actually did a pretty good job here, and a lot of what this program is meant to showcase is somewhat lost with tv camera angles.

 it seems only me and Sandpiper enjoy their FD. :drama:
I do think they should change some position and elements but I really like their FD. :yay:

I love their free dance. I love that it looks different in different dances. Very passionate in black, lyrical in white. The only moment, which makes me suffer, almost physically, is their position at the moment of second music change, I hope they'll use some dance holds as transition instead of that awful position.

ITA. I hope there's some kind of feedback and they will consider it.
Or maybe Alba could leave some feedback on Lena's facebook? There's high probability she will read it.

Their FD has grown on me, I particularly liked their GPF performance.
Also, I think that white dress is perfect cause it makes the programm look lighter. Black dress and all the drama is too much, I actually don't mind the grey one but I don't like the cut of the skirt, I would prefer it to start lower that the waist line(if you know what I mean).

I saw the white FD dress live in Barcelona. It's absolutely dazzling! It doesn't look half as sparkling on screen. It did give a lighter feel to the program which worked better for me than the darker dresses. I hope she'll wear it in Euros and WC.

And I'm with many of you about tango. For the first time in my life I'm actually hoping a dance team to do tango. Very few can do it but I believe I/Z could.

I fully agree with you.

I fully agree with you.

Agreed here. It is just beginning to dawn on me how important that SD was at COR. That was a statement. These two don't need excessive PR, their skating will say all that their needs to be said. Like that.

I agree with you all. They are a beautiful team to watch, they have the ability to keep the emotion in their programs going. It has been said that when teams are doing the tech elements that they have to emotionally disengage and I don't get that from Ruslena at all. They take the performance the whole way through.

It really does. Now the expectations are higher and I know I'll be nervous. :hopelessness:

True dat. It is their debut on the international circuit, but their GP season and win at nationals should make them more confident. I think they felt out of their element at the GPF. Hopefully they will have leave those thoughts behind.

Bobrova/Soloviev will not be in Europeans. So Ilinykh/Zhiganshin entering competition as russian number 1. :popcorn:Skating in early groups will be disadvantage.:scowl:

It's not a big deal, the judges know them by now, they know what to expect for them. And, mantra time, I just want them to skate well, enjoy the competition and skate for eachother and their fans.

Well I mean, I guess this would be the year to build up and get those points. If everything goes according to plan they should place in the top 6 or so with their SD even when skating in an early group - the judges know who they are.
