Unchained Melody would be amazing. But in my head, I'm envisioning an FD based on BBC's Sherlock OST. Lena can be Sherlock and Ruslan is John Watson.

Vaitsekhovskaya did an interview with Ruslan yesterday. It probably won't appear on the site until next week, but, as is custom, she teased this quote:

"You skate, you see some team splitting up, but for some reason, you think it will never concern you. And all of a sudden - bam! Like your pants suddenly fell off. You stand there and don't know what to do."

Yay! New interview. We were so spoiled seeing them in four competitions in the row and now the wait until Euros feels endless. Vaitsekhovskaya`s interviews are always very interesting, so looking forward to this.

I was watching Grishuk&Platov`s FD at Worlds 1997 on youtube and I think Ruslena could totally pull off "The Feeling Begins", although it is quiet overused.

Yeah it is. I would love to see a tango like G&P in 1997 though. That's the best tango for me, still today.

It would be a dream to see I/Z doing a tango. They have the fire and passion for a tango. Maybe they could again use Najarro as a choreographer, although I think he more specialized in flamenco.

They would be perfect in a tango, they are this kind of team that can pull it through.I saw Maslenikova and Averbukhs Adios Nonino LP for Bazarova/Deputat, even thought that's pairs, it was still good.One good only imagine Lena and Ruslan in a Piazzolla tango, pure fire

I know he doesn't really like doing all the press stuff & that's why we mostly hear from Elena in press conferences etc, but it would be good to really hear his side of everything that's happened in the last year & Vaitsekhovskaya always draws a lot from the people she interviews, so it should be good!

I`m also very excited to hear what he has to say about the split and his new partnership with Elena. I thought the reason why Elena mostly answers during the press conferences is because she is fluent in English.

Even at Russian nationals though she did all the talking, unless he was asked a direct question. I'm sure one of them said at Cup of Russia that they prefer it that way, because she is more used to dealing with the attention?

Probably. I really admire how Ruslan has dealt with this whole situation. When he and Victoria skated together, they had the advantage to being #3 in Russia, therefore they had the time to develope, whereas B/S and I/K had all the attention and pressure of the RSF. This year Ruslan has out of nowhere the best female ice dancer by his side and is, with the absence of B/S, #1 in Russia. That`s a lot of change in only few months, but he is handeling it very well.

Ruslan seems to be a very grounded and intelligent man.

It is nightmare situation. Skaters like Emily Samuelson, Matthieu Jost or Caitlin Yankowskas tried to come back but it is not easy even If fans behind you all the time. Being ''victims'' or ''darling of fans'' not going to save you.

Strange thing is this year many teams split up and partners who didn't want split actually got better matches. For example; Bazarova found much younger, more expressive partner with good lines, Davankova found taller partner, Moscovitch found a partner who can do high level pair elements also with good posture.

I know what you're thinking and that's a great idea. :agree: But right now maybe it's too soon for that. They need more time together as a couple and establish themselves up there among the best. Otherwise there is a risk to see Ruslan as overshadowed by Elena, if you know what I mean.

Yup. I understand your reasoning Sometimes I get too excited for them. Before this season started, I felt so dejected and didn't have much hope. But oh boy, I was repeatedly slapping the table in happiness and excitement when I saw the vid for their SD at COC.
