i don't know how it is in Russia, but in other countries people have the right to express their opinions: the media is free, so the people... so, i do not think that the Russian Fed or Minister of Sport should even try to interfere in that. And who can judge that the comments were unfair??

Critique is fine, wonderful, necessary. Calling an athlete they obviously don't see every day fat and lazy however, isn't.

Even in their first season together, this couple was mesmerizing! I love them a lot and I believe that they will get only better and better after this season. Oh but they do, when it comes also from people within Federation, at least. And as LisaM mentioned, calling her fat is not only a blatant lie but damn offensive, on a personal level as well as professional.

Me, for example? Since we're speaking about having the right to express our own opinions? That's fine, but I'm free to judge their opions as well, and see if they're genuine or biased, or done becuase people who make them have their own agenda? Media included.

Having said that, I'm not shocked. I've seen much worse things in Ballet, and Theater (both my uncle and aunt are actors). As I said, the ice will do the talking in the end. So, less talk and gossip and more skating&dance please.

Yes, but if you're sure that you can't dance the dance you've to talk the talk. I guess (and I only guess) that some experts were really really happy that I/K split, because the supposedly no.1 team for the next 4 years was gone, so there was room for their own couples, they didn't think that S/K would be that good, because (imho) the weaker partners of their previous partnerships teamed up. And because of Elena being "lazy" they didn't think that she would take the trouble of finding a new partner and I think that they were a bit shocked that she was so eager to immediatly team up with Ruslan.

I think it's really good that the've done the masterclass thing and that they're open about the choreographers that they work with next season. I don't think that we'll hear any gossip about them splitting again in the off-season because of that. It looks like they're going to have a quiet off-season. But then again .. maybe she'll get pregnant or he'll team up with his sister.

I`m very optimistic regarding I/Z`s chances for next season. They have an advantage in the SD since Elena is the best female ice dancer and I`m hopeful that Najarro has created an amazing FD for them. Regarding their haters, well, they surprised people and the other coaches know that now is the time to get that #1 spot in Russia. One thing is certain, though, the international judges adore I/Z and that`s a big plus on Ruslena`s side.

Btw, did anybody of you hear about the rumor that Shpilband is going to work with I/Z over the summer? I`ve read it on the Navka forum, but I`ve no idea if it`s true.

I've been trying to get onto that other navka forum, but can't find the link. Marta25, could you help a girl out? As to the rumours, time will tell. I've seen it at other places but this could only help if true right?

I think working with Shpilband would be amazing, especially if they could get some of his political power. The only Russian couple he has worked with were Riazanove/Tkachenko and I think he could do amazing things with Ruslena. Besides, he already knows Elena from the time she skated at Canton so the idea wouldn`t be that far-fetched.

I think working with Shpilband would also give the S/K and I/Z rivalry even more heat and the media is already creating a lot of drama around I/Z. We will see, I guess. I`m just glad that I/Z have technical strong coaches, they will need the good preparation for the Ravensburger Waltz.

I think it would be hilarious considering the Shpilband-Zueva dynamic.
Not to mention Shpilband is obviously a great technician. However, I doubt it will happen as he coaches C/B and they're basically direct opponents.

Maybe he will work with them for new lifts. I think he also helped I/K with that, at some point.
I totally agree that critics and rumours (some of them very rude, indeed) will always exist, but in the end everything is proven on the ice and I/Z did that very successfully last season.
