Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Does anybody think they are going to change their twizzle section? I love their twizzles, but I think they are harder than it needs to be to get level 4.

Regarding their SD, I think it`s better to put the ravensburger waltz sequences very early on, because it is much more difficult than the PD of last season.

To some extent I get why they have the no step, just change of edge between the first 2 twizzles - it does make it harder, but it also guarantees that they'll still get level 4 if for whatever reason they don't do the third set. Yes it's harder, but it's all constructed so they've got maximum chance to get the levels.

You are right it is better, more safe. Also that way they will end up dance with highlight element. (lift) It is just, there is no better way to wake up audience after 20 other classic waltz.

It seems like most teams chose more traditional music for the waltz, so their Queens SD could be very refreshing. I`m just worried about the choreography. I think they worked with someone who never worked with ice dancers, that can be a big risk.

I really like some of the works I've seen from him. The fact that he hasn't worked with Ice Dancers before (I thought he has done some work with Averbukh?) doesn't worry me because there are people who can help. After all Najarro started with A&P and it was a great program whereas you have well known choreographers who have always worked with ID doing some crappy programs. ;).
The most important thing is the concept, the structure, and how all that is translated into movements/dance.

You are right. This summer feels very, very long. Too much time to worry ;)

I just want them to have two lovely programms, that allows them to compete with the best.

Me too. I'm not sold in their idea of the SD yet, which is a pretty good sign because they did prove me wrong last season with their great Carmen.

I think the Somebody to love part will work nicely, but I`m not so sure about the march to We will rock you. But, I think it will be hard to match Carmen, at least for me, since I looooved their SD and think it was, eventhough they got nearly 70 points for it, underscored. Yep, I said it.

Absolutely, the best SD for me, but I wasn't convinced before I saw the program. I thought "oh Carmen again. Boring!". I was soooooo wrong.

ITA. Carmen was the most underscored SD last season. I would have had them leading Rostelecom and Euros, and even Worlds. I feel like they had more input win the SD last year but not with their FD.

I think the Queen SD will be brilliant. I have imagined different ways they could use those pieces. They are a team with chemistry and passion. They will make this work:)

 They made Carmen look fresh, no easy feat :)

Absolutely not. I am curious on how they are going to use the music- original versions or instrumentals, a combination??
I think that "Somebody to love" will be with lyrics and "We will rock you" without. The audience will clap along to "We will rock you" no matter what.

I love Queen. I think Somebody to love will work out so well, Elena and Ruslan have the charm to pull that off so perfectly! And we all know they can get people going so I am behind we will rock you:)

Has anyone found good instrumental versions of either song? I agree that having no lyrics for WWRY is a good idea, I think it would help the program to be more cohesive.

ETA: It was Kustarova's birthday today, I hope she had a great day celebrating & wish her a successful year ahead! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

Happy birthday to Elena Kustarova! May this prove to be a wonderful year for her and her team!

I think it's wonderful that she and Elena Ilinykh became close so quickly! And it's always such a pleasure to see her greeting them when they come off the ice, as if they were her favorite nephew and niece, and they too seem to respond to her as if she were their favorite aunt.

May all her wishes come true! :)
