Embedding GS Posts Rather Than Quoting Them

Since the update to XenForo in June, I have seen a small number of posts where the poster has referred to another GS post by embedding it rather than quoting it.

Here is an example of a post where @lariko has referred to a post from @Jumping_Bean in this way:

I've been trying to work out how to do this for a while, because I think it would be a tidier way of referring to the comments made in competition threads when I do reports for my Fan Fests. But haven't been making any progress.

Can anybody enlighten me?

By sharing it instead of replying to it. The share function is at the top right corner
 
I did the share icon and copied the URL to the clipboard. But what comes next? I tried embedding it as media, but that didn't work; it wouldn't accept the URL. I could insert the link, but that isn't what is desired.

It's definitely useful to be able to get the URL for the post, and I can see other uses for it, but don't know how to embed.

It embeds automatically if you share the link
 
this is what it looks like when I tap the share icon on a post, and when I click on copy link, I get "copy link to clipboard" as only option. Do you have different options? What do I do next?

I have returned to "recreative" swimming this year and I know the feeling... I could swim every day before... now I need a day off between heavy trainings... And it seems that you don't even have to be in "What You See Is What You Get" mode. It works in normal coding mode.

There must be something special in copying via the Share button, because when you paste it in, it just looks like a normal address. Or, maybe it is because the [ URL ] [ /URL ] coding wasn't around it (had to add spaces so that it wouldn't work).

Let me try again by just copying the address from where it tells you the time the post was posted.

So, it worked just copying and pasting the address ( https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/t...-rather-than-quoting-them.101570/post-3443408 ) and putting no coding around it. (I did put coding around the address there now in this post to make the address be seen).

OK, so now I will try it again by copying and pasting the shorter form of the post's address (i.e. https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/posts/3443408/ ):

@4everchan @NanaPat - did you get a notification any of the times one of your posts was shared in this experimenting, like you do when the posts get quoted?

If not, this will be absolutely perfect for my Fan Fest reports, because I normally have to mess up the coding to avoid notifications being sent when the report is posted, and then go back and edit the coding back to the way it should be.

I don't think there's any notice to the person whose post is embedded. You can check if you get one.

I did get notices for likes and mentions.

I am late to the party but if there were notifications for the embedded posts, you would have found this thread earlier :)
