Entries?

How many entries can each country send?
It's based on last year's Europeans results. See ISU Communication No. 1527 -- "Entries ISU Championships 2009" -- and scroll down to the bottom of page 2 for the list of countries that have qualfied more than one entry:
http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=1048

Is there anywhere we can see who's been chosen for the Euros so far?
There's an "unofficial" list at FSU. Also, someone posted on FSU today that the French team for 2009 Europeans "has not been announced. The selection committee was supposed to meet on Monday."

ETA: Thanks for posting the the link below to the official French entries for Euros, Buttercup!

Thanks for the link, Sylvia. It answers several of my questions. It looks like 4 Continents is much more open (or has fewer skaters trying to enter) than Europeans. Every country can send as many as 3 entries in each discipline to 4 Continents.

The big drawback for 4 CCs is the travel involved. Why go? Get acclimatized? Practice? then get back home and prepare for Worlds? Not so involved for European skaters and Euros is the oldest annual event in figure skating.

If it were broken up into groups: Asian Comps and American Comps, I think it would be in demand. Problem would be Africa. Meantime, let us enjoy what we can with Euros. There will be some podium questions for the Men, Skate Dance, and some world's comparative view in Ladies and Pairs. Should be a good Comp.

For Pairs, I believe the German Fed chose not to send Vartmann/Just to Euros because he's recovering from an injury...

That's a shame!
She'll have surgery this week and will be back on the ice at a 100% in february only.

No participants for Bulgaria, maybe an omission?

It seem to be corrected: Georgi KENCHADZE for Men, Sonia RADEVA for ladies, Nina IVANOVA / Filip ZALEVSKI for pairs and Ina DEMIREVA / Juri KURAKIN for dance.

Entries are online :

And Ireland will make it begins with Clara Peters.
Thanks, Nirti! And within hours, there are already some changes (e.g. DelSchoe being out :frown:).

I seriously doubt Clara Peters will make it out of the SP, but since she will be the first figure skater to represent Ireland, I wish her the best of luck in Helsinki!
