Evan back in drivers seat over Weir heading into U.S Nationals?

Johnny has a habit of pulling out great performances at Nationals (okay so last year was the exeption) so I'm really curious to see what happens.

He really wants the title back and I think he'll really lay it down. Of course Evan wants to keep it so who knows. It's going to be close either way IMO and definitely the highlight of Nationals.

As for the other spot on the podium, I think it could be either Carierre, Bradley or Abbott depending on who skates the best that night.

Update from a certain Network: Johnny addresses the current state of affairs between himself and Evan as "He won one, I won one." Perhaps more interestingly, while he is continuing to say "It will be ready when it's ready" on the quad, Galina is of the opinion that it will be ready in time for Nationals, and I think she may be the foremost authority on the matter(he's said in the past that he'll jump whatever she tells him to jump!). Of course Evan'll have it in the short as well, but Johnny gets better GOE, and I think they'll both get pretty high levels at Nationals, it being Nationals:cool: So it may come down to who stands up on it. Unless the USFSA really doesn't want Johnny to win.:ohwell:

Evan is more clutch than Johnny and he has been practicing the quad in his competitive programs all season. I think that the two will be very evenly matched after the short program, with a point or less separating them. The national title will all come down to the free skate. This is where I think Evan has the advantage. If Johnny skates first and brings the house down, Evan has the will power, the determination and the competitive spirit to turn in an equally riveting skate. Seeing Johnny do well will only spur Evan to perform at his highest level as well. On the other hand, if Evan brings the house down, Johnny has the tendency to "crack" and give up, rather than deliver a strong performance. While I think Johnny's quality of skating is superior to Evan, Evan is a better competitor and he knows it. I would bet on Evan to retain his national title.

I remember Dick Button saying last year, that the pressure of defending a national title is much greater then the pressure of trying to win a national title. This is the first time Evan will be defending a senior national title and the pressure he will feel will be unlike any he felt any other time in his skating career. No one can predict what will happen.

Kurt Browning and Scott Hamilton and Brian Boitano have also made comments like that...

No one can predict what will happen.
Which is why my prediction has always been that it's going to be one heck of a night and I'm going to either need a sedative, or paramedics on standby because I'm going to be a wreck sitting there in the arena!
