Figure Skating in Australia

....there is an excellent article I found for these guys. A must read Here is the link,

http://www.burwoodscene.com.au/2016/09/aboriginal-figure-skater-unlikely-partner-take-world/

This is from the article, written by Belinda Noonan.

"Australia has not fielded a successful pairs team since three-time Olympians brother and sister team Stephen Carr and Danielle McGrath in the 1990s."

Hmm, it makes it sound like Australia hasn't had any pairs at all in international competition since the Carrs.

What about Brittney Mclean & Adam King, Emma Brien & Stuart Beckingham, or our current two - time national champions, Paris Stephens & Matthew Dodds?

Typical - the amount of press some very overrated skaters get is crazy - you would think there were only 5 skaters in the country and synchro doesn't even rate! It will get far worse in the lead up to South Korea - skaters with ordinary scores will be glossed over until they manage to do one great skate never mind consistency - Brooklee won't even get a mention

For Karne!

Brendan Kerry SP at Golden West - one fall but otherwise he looks really good:

Well I'm not greedy, I'll share!

He looks fantastic, I noticed he swapped out the triple Axel for a double, I guess he was a bit shaken by the fall into the boards, ouch. But GORGEOUS 4T-3T to open. Dayum, he's looking good for this time of year. If he can do this clean, this can and should bust 80+ wide open for him. Really loving this program.

Right, depending of FS he could be a factor at SA this year!

He had a bit of a case of the popsies during the free skate but it looks fantastic. Three quads, one in the second half, and the step sequence right at the end. If he can pull this off, I will be VERY interested to see what the international judges will do with him.

Felt bad for James. He knew he couldve done better.
Hope he moves on pushes forward.
That was his only assignment. Charlton Doherty is taking the remaining 2 JGPs

He did get a new PB by 15 points though, and that counts for something. At least I think he did...

It's sad but totally true. And people like belinda Noonan are the problem. Favouring certain skaters and showing them support but everyone does not get a second look. The only skaters that exist in her eyes are Kailani, Brendan, James and this new pair team.

But how is that unreasonable? They are the top skaters and the ones with the best chance of doing well for Australia in an Olympics.

^Take it elsewhere, guys. We're not doing this again.

Time conversions for US International Classic:

Pairs SP (Paris Stephens/Matthew Dodds): 10:55am 16/09 (FRIDAY)

Men SP (Brendan Kerry, Andrew Dodds, Jordan Dodds): 12:05pm 16/09 (FRIDAY)

Pairs FS: 12 MIDDAY, 17/09 (SATURDAY)

Men FS: 13:20 (1:20pm), 17/09 (SATURDAY)

I believe IceNetwork will be the only stream available. Unsure if geoblocked, but IN usually works with my unblocky friend.

Charlton Doherty was very close to getting junior worlds last season only for some shifty moving of dates - with two JGPs he just may cause an upset. James Min is definitely favoured but things can happen. Mark Webster also another one to watch !

I wish the best for Charlton for the Free Skate. I hope he moves up and shows us the improvements he has made.

REVISED times for US International Classic (because guess which bozo brain forgot that IceNetwork schedules are never local time)

Pairs FS - SATURDAY 17/9 1000

Men FS - SATURDAY 17/9 1120

And the men's free skate at JGP Saransk (Charlton Doherty) will take place at 0100 SATURDAY 17/9.

VIDEO ROUNDUP

Charlton Doherty - JGP Saransk - The Fight Song (I really like this program for him! You can see the ice dance influence in his step sequence)

Jordan Dodds - US International Classic - The Feeling Begins

Andrew Dodds - US International Classic - Empty Chairs At Empty Tables

Brendan Kerry - US International Classic - Singin' in the Rain

Paris Stephens/Matthew Dodds - US International Classic - I can't find this video anywhere. If anyone has it, please post it :)

Whooooooop.
4th place for Brendan at the US international classic.
Great work from Jordan Dodds for getting the min. TES for four continents. And a great job from Andrew considering the illnesses he has had thus last year.

Another solid participation from Paris and Matthew. Hope to see their routines at full strength though.

Also, well done to Charlton for an improved free skate at JGP Saransk.
Hope to see more improvement from him at this next assignment.
