Figure Skating in Australia

I saw these and thought about this topic. A few high quality very nice shots of Brendan (I searched for a Breandan topic but didn't find one, hopefully I'm not posting in the wrong fanfest)

The photographer made some comments on the photographs. (paraphrasing to the nearest english equivalent)
1. Pretty as a picture! Felt like I was taking photos of a model.
2. Brendan who is as beautiful as a painting.

Oooh, thankyou for the pretty shots of Brendan

(I think he does have a Fan Fest of his own, like Brooklee and Kailani...but everyone ends up back in here anyway.)

Looks like he's picked up another smitten fan  He is packaged extremely well this season, especially that short.

If anyone has ideas, Andrew Dodds is asking on Twitter for music ideas for next season :) Some of the ideas so far have been a bit whacky  but some have been pretty good. I imagine he will be choosing soon though since his season is likely to start at Hollins or Wintersun in June...

"Classically handsome Brendan. His jumps were steady and it was great to see lots of smiles."

Good luck to our reps at #WorldJFigure 2017 in Taipei City this week.

James Min- Apart from skating, he likes to sing pop songs as well! In recent news, he was invited last Christmas to be part of an Ice Show in Cambodia, the nation his parents come from! There are clips of one of his self choreographed exhibitions on his social media.
He also has all his triples nailed down, as well as the triple lutz triple toe- fingers crossed the 3A he began doing this season will come into his competitive arsenal next season.
His latest post shows him going through some of his triples quite easily.

Holly Harris- Her SP is absolutely wonderful and expressive and genuine in her movements. Hope she makes the cut.
Katia Alexandrovskaya and Harley Windsor >>> Big Medal Contenders- a good way to make a name for themselves before senior worlds. Like any new team, there is still much they need to learn about each other for them to skate as one, but they do have some lovely elements. Fingers crossed for their throw jump.
Matilda Friend and William Badaoui- Wish them all the best- a strong skate will help them make it to the next level in the eyes of the judges. https://www.facebook.com/Matilda-Friend-and-William-Badaoui-450816605078338/

Actually deduct an hour lol. So frustrating the fact I'm in Brisbane, less than an hour and a half from the state border and 6 months of time confusion every year! Ps. I'm in the clock forwarding camp ;)

Ah you're right, I didn't brain properly.

Overnight results:

James MIN scored a new PB for his SP! Sadly that had him 29th, and he didn't make the free skate :( By only three points :(

Katia ALEXANDROVSKAYA and Harley WINDSOR are currently THIRD after the SP!

Today:

Matilda FRIEND and William BADAOUI skate last in the fifth group of the short dance - about 5:45pm AEDT.

Tomorrow:

Holly HARRIS skates last in the third group of the ladies' short program - about 4:10pm AEDT.

Then ALEXANDROVSKAYA/WINDSOR will skate first in the last group of the pairs free skate - about 12:20am (Saturday morning).

More Ice Dance Couples-
Chantelle Kerry trialling with one of the Dodds boys, mmmmm wonder where that would put Matilda and William in the pecking order.
Interesting to see Dani and Greg putting in some training sessions over the past couple of months.

Great to see Chantelle still skating. She has an elegant quality to her skating which could work really well in dance.

Also, what Dani and Greg are what??? Hmm....we need to see how this may turn out.

What a Junior Worlds this has been so far! It's been raining PBs! And now a history making gold!

Holly will skate her FS tonight at about 7:30pm AEDT. Fingers crossed for another PB to round out the collection!

Overall, this year was a great year for Australia at Junior Worlds. Not just in pairs, but throughout all the disciplines.
For Holly, what a great first showing from her. I hope that she will continue to excel in her training environment.
For Ekaterina and Harley, onwards to Helsinki- then looking to creating fantastic programs which will drive them to improve next season.
For James, I am excited to see how he will develop- i hope he will have more opportunities to compete next season, and finally break the top 24 at Jnr. Worlds
For Matilda and William, a big step up this season, as well as improving their worlds placement by 5 ranks. Looking forward to seeing how both grow as skaters to be faster, more powerful, and connect.

Maybe we need to continue to invest in Pairs and Ice Dance- keep finding skaters domestically to pair up, as well as look for skaters from overseas to come together and make a large skating program.

:)

Thanks to Katia and Harley's win, Australia may have the opportunity to send three pair teams to next year's junior worlds, should they have the necessary TES.

I think many people (and not even fans of the AUS pair) were hoping to see them on the podium, but not really thinking it could actually happen... and they actually managed to finish ON TOP. What an accomplishment, they can be very proud of themselves, I am too! :cheer:

It has been three days since they won and still NO major news outlets other than the ABC and SBS (via online article) and The Australian (which I don't read) have picked up on it.
Football rules the TV screens again

I'm rather fuming about it. Nine has a freaking "sports sunday" show which was in the perfect zone to mention it but of course it was all footy and cricket. Fat chance of that getting a run. And Fox Sports has no excuse, they are supposed to be a proper sports channel, they have pages of channels, you'd think they could have squeezed it in somewhere.
