Free Dance

I agree that Davis and White need some new coaching. They are great skaters and have star quality but they could use a bit of...something. I think this is also true of Belbin and Agosto. Virtue and Moir seem to have a good match with Shpillban and Zueva.

Ba

Team Canada in tears!

dramatic start
curve, rotational lift combo
sbs twizzle, first fast, second lost steam
circular, greate sense of musicality
dance combo spin
very innovative variations in curve rotational lift
straight line lift,
straight line step sequence, great unison, but no speed
they came back fighting.
very complex choreography
rotational lift to conclude the program.

very sophisticated program. Lovely.

TES - 53.75
PCS - 49.54
Total - 103.29, new sb
Rank - 4th

They move up one place, and have to settle for 4th.

B/A slot into 4th behind the Russians by 0.26...that damn fall in the compulsories!! The crowd sounds a bit surprised too.

Ben said "I just don't understand" or something like that, in the K&C.

What a shame. This free dance was their best in years, and they don't even medal with it. Sad. But the odds of 2 North American couples making the podium were probably none.

I was surprised as well. I expected them to have beat the Russians.... .26 points could have been made up desite the fall...darn.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, changes with B/A, D/W and V/M next season...I predict some major changes...not necessarily coaching but somthing (though coaching might not be a bad idea....hint-hint-D/W)

4th overall for Tanith & Ben. That CD really killed them. I feel bad for them but Im also very happy for the russians and the french. Overall the judging was quite fair IMO. A very nice FD evening specially compared to yesterday's splatfest.

 I hope Tanith doesn't kick herself too much....

I really love the Chopin number, but I will wait and watch the coverage before I get an opinion.

V/M are so young, but they have been skating together for such a long time and it shows. They make it look effortless

I agree. Moreover, the musical selection has a wonderful romantic quality which they interpret very successfully. They express the feeling of it. It has always been said that chemistry matters in dance, and I think it still does.

Congratulations to all the medal winners! A fine competition!

Tanith and Ben's program does nothing for me. I really believed and felt the emotion of the French and Canadians. Tanith and Ben just don't project that.

So happy for Isabelle and Olivier, they so deserved this.

Wonderful Night. Congratulations to all 3 teams for this sublime podium tonight!!!France-Canada-Russia !
