Free Dance

D/s

when compared to BA, this program has modern feel to it.

extensions on combo spins. they have simply better skating skills.
straight line lift: lots of speed.
circular step: good transitions
rotational lift: good body positions.
synchronized twizzles: they were far apart.
low curve lift: terrific
combination lift nicely done.
straight step sequence lacking speed.

too early to tell whether this program will help them defend their worlds title. the overall speed and the presence of the team is superior.

DS seem happy with their skate.

Score: 90.89

barely in first place.

Disappointed for the Kerrs.

Tanith & Ben: Wow. Except they want more speed. She even said that when they stepped off the ice. But they are on the right track, I should think.

I agree. I think this program has great potential. At this particular outing it was very rough, though, so there's lots of work to be done. They were thinking going into every single lift, and they definitely lacked speed and flow. I'm sure they're not thrilled with a score of 91 for it.

I LOVE D/S new freedance. My fav from them since Frida. The lifts were fabulous. I think if they can get to the point later in the season when they can skate this totally free, without thinking about the choreo, this is going to be stunning. Wow, only a score of 90. This was a low-scoring competition. From teams like B/A and D/S you'd expect to see something closer to 100.

Seriously ??!!

Unfortunately, seriously.
This is how I would've had it.

1. DelSchoes
2. Kerrs
3/4. B/A or S/B. I'm not keen on B/A's FD but it's early yet so it'll probably improve. Just didn't like it at this particular outing.

Allez la France!!

One big question: what was with the audience after Delobel/Schoenfelder skated? That wasn't even polite any more, just a few claps for a few seconds! It's not like D/S were totally lackluster or struggled through the program! I am really shocked. How very rude.

D/S would have won the freeskate without that deduction... So I won't get excited about that. But the audience was bad. Bad, bad audience. :disapp:

So...any conspiracy theories  ? S/B beating the Kerrs in the FD and Belbin/Agosto beating D/S

I smell a rat, just look at the results of the Free Dance, I would have given the Kerrs at least the silver over Belbin and Agosto.

I used to like Belebing and Agosto, when they used to do fun exciting energentic FD's, but now, they are doing overused music programs that look exactly the same.

Indeed. In fact, they had better speed than B/A generally, and their skating was smoother as well.

I hope DelSchoes don't feel as though last season's trend of never winning an FD (in international comp.) has followed them into this season.

Wow loved the Kerrs, this FD is magnificent. Also liked both american programs but not any of the French (i'm French myself but still...:ohwell:).

Ah, I need to see those FD's so badly! I'm a big fan of Tanith and Ben. They said that they have started very late with choreography and that there is still a lot of work to do on their programmes. What do you think? Has Tosca the potential to bring them back to the top?

I think B/A deserved the first place in free dance, except lack of speed. I think it is a very powerful and dramatic programme. However, there are a lot of potential ! PS, I have no feelings about the D/S and K/K

More likely the grabbing factor; to be honest, the Pink Floyd free dance didn't grab me the way the Tosca FD did. So in short, Linichuk knew what she was doing.
And of course, they would have won the FD anyway if not for the lift deduction.

I really liked this look of DelSchoes this season.
The humorous bits on the CD and OD, how care free their FD was...

After they won worlds and looked ready to retire, but decided to stick around, it looked like it was the wish of the French federation instead of their own.
But looking at those programs, they seem to be really enjoying being on the ice.

Can someone explain to me (non skater) why B/A outscore S/B? I think the latter are better in every way. And they did it in spite of that muzak they skated to. Tanith is not an elegant skater in spite of her prettiness.

It's amazing how much the Kerrs' costumes and music contribute to their performance. Very effective. I almost felt D/S's outfits detracted - they didn't add anything, for sure.

I would have had it: S/B, D/S, Kerrs. But I'm always happy to see D/S on top.

My impressions

D&S - looked nervous compared to Master's, so the program didn't flow as well. Like someone said, if they can skate this program full out it could be stunning. Much more streamlined and less cluttered than previous programs.

B&A - Biggest difference is there is way more going on in between the elements. In fact, for the first time ever they actually had more in between choreography than D&S. They looked rough, which is expected considering it's a Linichuk program. I'm not a fan but I think it has potential.

Kerrs - Skated well, but there was too much hand in hand and side by side steps in the second half. Too much is done for effect rather than to show ability, IMO. I've never felt this team was significantly underrated, and continue to do so.:ohwell:

S&B - They are technical machines! The unison and leg line is unbelievable. Too bad they have such a generic freedance.

I like it better than last seasons FD (which I thought was generic personified), but I agree that it is pretty generic. What is the story they're supposed to be telling?
