Free Dance

Loved the Canadians! So much fun. Normally they showcase the flexibility of the girl, but here it was the flexibility of the guy - the split in the footwork, his high-kicks during the routine. Very nice.

Carrousel from Quidam - Cirque du Soleil
Vai Vidrai from Alegria - Cirque du Soleil
Ballade Au Bout d'une Echelle from Corteo - Cirque du Soleil

He has a fauxhawk (blonde) and an impish expression to start
He has a black onesie with a large yellow bite out of it on either side and a few red splotches.
She has a purple with sparklies dress with a rag skirt with red underskirt

Lift with her in a not very good split

Nice twizzles, 2nd set a little out

Round leg kick good unison

Pair spin had a nice rotate out and back into reverse direction spin

I liked it other than the music

Okay, I would have prefered not to understand the lyrics during that freedance.

Romeo and Juliet (musical soundtrack) by Gerard Presgurvic

Their bio says this is R&J, but it sounds like bongo music and she has an empire waisted top (black with large white floral, like bad upholstery) and a white skirt with a few vertical black ribbon stripes. He has bad upholstery mandarin jacket and white pants

one foot lift, her in haircutter

COP f/w slowed at the end

rotational lift skidded along ice somewhat unintentionally

twizzles, 2nd set out

..and the Austrian girl wins the ugly dress competition. I totally liked the Canadians better. Horrible music.

Okay, I would have prefered not to understand the lyrics during that freedance.

I wasn't listening, but now I'm curious, what were they?

Selection of soundtracks by Goran Bregovic

Very peppy music Money Money Money and something about a woman named Rosacea  well maybe Alsatia

Outfits half black coat/pants and half chartreuse green shirt.
Similar effect on the girl with her dress

I think this is supposed to be funny, but I didn't get the joke

Slow but good twizzles

Rather ordinary lifts

Very peppy

Gothika by Sarah Brightman
Fleur du Mal by Sarah Brightman

She's in patchwork of red's and pinks. His shirt the same with black pants.

She falls twice. They finally get back together again.

Nice pair spin

Nice handstand lift with him in bent leg spread eagle

Lift with her legs scissored around his legs

They are quite good, and this is so sad.

Chess - End of Game

Black and white outfits. The tops are white with stylized line drawing of chess pieces. His top is half black, half white and he has black pants. Hers has a partially black back on the top, otherwise white

Can't believe it. M&N went through an entire competition without falling. They are lovely but so inconsistent.

She had trouble with the first part of the twizzle sequence-I'm not sure if they get any level for it, but for them this is great!!!

The lifts were all gorgeous.

And so was the pair spin, complex, dancy, ending in a crouch with her in sit spin position

And this was danced and emoted properly. Maybe we will get them at worlds instead of Hajkova & Vincour I hope.

I thought that this italian pair had quite a nice flow. They show potential. But boy, he really does not look junior :D. But he looks like a stable partner and she sells the program well.
I liked the colour of her dress.

Schindler's List

White v neck shirt has one very raggy edge and black pants
She has grey white raggy dress

Not a particularly attractive dance.

Lots of angsty faces

Footwork simple

Lifts did not have nice positions He swings her under his legs then she springs onto a standing lift on his knees. It's unintentionally funny.

twizzles OK

Bent knee position by her in low straight line lift

However, they skated it quite well.

Cinema Paradiso

Dark blue scoop neck dress, black trim
black pants, dark blue shirt, black vest

This was very smoothly skated. They have nice carriage, but it was very forgettable. I fear, however, it will score well.

The first set of twizzles with the free leg out were very nice and quick, 2nd set less so. Simple straight line lift. Pair spin some problems with the reverse, may not have gotten the revolutions. Nice speed on the rotational part of the combo lift. Really unattractive one arm rotational lift with him holding her by the knee.

Not my favorites, but you have to give them credit

Must all the Canadian teams skate to some romantic, shmatlzy piece? That was utterly forgettable. The Italians at least had personality.

The Mission

Dark red dress with skirt longer in the back. Bare back with what looks like a fake orange tattoo patch at the top of the butt
He has a red top with a red sleeve with a lot of gray/silver illusion cutouts down the middle. Black pants

Pair spin to start
Straight line lift with them both low, forming a V shape
Skid around ina a low position interesting

Their twizzles out of synch and no forward travel on 2nd set

Typical squat spread eagle by guy, backbend by girl lift morphs into her standing up on one leg on one of his legs

They're off the music now

Rotational lift

Ok

Hill is so much better than Ralph, who has bad posture and is frumpy. He's got great extension and line. Wish he'd get a better partner. Program was a little on the boring side.

And Then There Was Blues - St. James Infirmary Blues

White shirt, off white pants, untied tie flapping
Black and pink floral pattern dress with little puffy sleeves

Somehow this seems like an extension of their yesterday's OD

Good feel for the music. Not great posture, but not as bad as it was

Start rotational lift, fast and she changes position during the rotation

Circle kicks

pretty good legline match

Little sbs jump in the F/w

Stag position rotation, a little different more extended position in the reverse
twizzles ok

trombone movements

Pair spin is the same cute one used in the OD with her ducking under his leg

"Stretched out ona long white table" in the music, and that what she does in their straight line lift

Kicks not perfectly aligned

73.0? 152.76 into first

Yes. Canadians must all have schmaltzy FD's. I think it is a law, and they are considering adding a version of At Last to the Canadian anthem.

I think due to Dubreuil/Lauzon and Virtue/Moir's success all teams feel they must skate to some dull, romantic, lovey dovey piece and it is so boring! Ralph & Hill were so much more interesting when they skated to their fantastic African Drums OD last season!
