I don't think a medal is likely for Caroline. But I'm hoping she can at least skate in the exhibition. That way, she can cruise into Junior Worlds as ( essentially ) the top American lady .... junior OR senior. The people in Bulgaria will be ready to hand her the gold before she even skates.

Obviously that was a joke.
Caroline is the only US lady who is in position to qualify for the exhibition after short at 4CC.
Hence 4CC gala >>> US championship
(with the way things are going, that's not too far fetched, I'm afraid. :sheesh

Well right, I don't really expect a medal for Caroline, but I'm just saying that she's not too far from 3rd the way the standings are right now. I'm sure Mao will move up to grab at least bronze (or at least I'm praying she will), so that probably leaves Caroline 4th, at best. Top 4 = exhibition, right?

I see Yu-na making one mistake in the LP and still winning easily, Mao skating brilliantly and getting the silver and Joannie getting the bronze.

OK, I get it now. The symbol > in mathamatics means "greater than". So "4CC gala >>> US championship" means that 4CC gala in much more important than the US Championships. I knew that engineering degree would come in handy.

I'll see your sarcasm and raise you some irony. Because in fact what you meant only in sarcasm is actually somewhat literally valid. Where's the excitement in a competition where none of your skaters have any chance? And not just one competition, or one year, but year after year? Do you expect people to not root for their team? I don't care if you think it's biased. It sucks to have NO CHANCE AT ALL.
To make matters worse - I submit that it sucks for EVERYONE when, as we've seen previously, Yun-a has an INSURMOUNTABLE LEAD after the short. Now we have another free skate with very little excitement. Yun-a already has the gold medal around her neck. So it's bad for everyone (except for whichever Yun-a fans care only about her winning and nothing else), and even worse for the US fans -- not only can no US ladies realistically podium (unless you pray for a Mao Meltdown), the gold medal was already given to Yun-a on Wednesday. Make basketball analogies till you're blue in the face, you're still wrong. If a basketball team only played in 3 or 4 games a year, and 2 of them were over by halftime, it would suck for their sport too.
But US fans still have one reason to watch. We get to see Alissa and Rachael's trial run for Worlds, and speculate on how bad our chances are to end up with 13 standing there.
