You know, it wasn’t until I was making out these lists that I realised that the long-anticipated showdown finally happens this weekend:

Ilinykh / Zhiganshin vs. Sinitsina / Katsalapov

I like Elena, Ruslan and Viktoria. But after the way Nikita behaved when they split, I want Lena to give him a good kicking out on the ice! And for Alex and Ivan to put the boot in as well for good measure!

Aside from that, I knew who I wanted to put in the top 3 or 4 of ever category, but after that it was difficult to decide an order.

And it didn’t help that there are 2 Russians (Maria Stavitskaia and Moris Kvitelashvili) that I have never seen before… and 1 of them I had never even heard tell of (Moris)!

Oh well. Even though my placing has improved since Skate America, I know I’m just too far behind now to get a decent result in the overall Game. :ohwell:

At least last season I had another target to aim for – beating sky_fly20! Now I don’t even have the option do that! :disapp:

It's your prediction, but I will note that statistically so far this season, there hasn't been too many surprises.

SA: The ones people didn't quite expect is Nam Nguyen getting 3rd or Denney/Frazier getting 2nd.
SC: Stephen Carriere did better than expect in men and Kozuka fared poorly (though it wasn't entirely surprising given his struggles in the last year and his poor performance in Japan open). Javier Fernandez lost, but most people only lost about 5 points, Many people correctly predicted Anna P to win and Ashley Wagner and Satoko Miyahara to get on the podium. Ice dance went as expected, with Weaver and Poje winning -- maybe some swiched G/P and H/D but most had both on the podium. Most had the pairs podium
COC: Papadakis/Cizeron winning in ID was the biggest surprise, but Shibs and Cappellini/Lanotte were still on the podium, so most scored okay. Hanyu losing was obviously a surprise, but nobody could have predicted that major accident. Julia Lip lost, but still got silver.

That said, you may want to hedge your bets to account for some unpredictable trends, but remember that not every week is going to be like Cup of China. (But again it's your prediction ----your gamble might be worth it!)

I actually called Nam Nguyen getting 3rd and Denney/Frazier getting 2nd accurately.

I also had the Skate Canada men 1, 2 and 3 accurate. (ie I had Javi in second not first)

Papadakis/Cizeron did stump me, but I did get Dornbush for third right.

The funny thing is I was routing for Liza to win but chickened out of actually predicting her.

I find it interesting that half the examples of surprises were the few things I got correct. Now i would just get the other stuff right too.

Well then maybe your gamble will pay off then!

I'd love Jason to win, but I think Javi will still pull of the win even if he does a poor FS. A poor FS, FWIW, is equal to Jason's PB, which means he would have to be absolutely perfect to win.

But yeah, who knows.

If it were not for his knee, I likely would have still gone with Javi first. But with the injury, well you have to have some fun with it. With no money on the line why not take some risks for fun!
