i thought this was interesting. Kimmie seems to have gotten a 3flip/3loop combo steady and is better from an ankle injury that mesed her up at the GPF. I think that this girl is competitor and she will skate well at nationals. Look at Miki. She had a great nationals after a misrable NHK. She could easily win.

it is on icenetwork if anybody wants to see it.

I was really happy to see that news item. Hope she is completely healed, and I'm sure she's raring to go!! Go Kimmie!!!

Meissner is saying nothing but her coach surely talked a tough game. ;) I hope Kim knows that everything her coach says is effectively confirmed by her. She doesn't need the additional pressure.

I agree, though...a bad performance will always creep in somewhere, it seems to happen with even the most consistent of skaters. But she really seemed to have some issues out there in Paris and Torino. Glad to hear it's been sorted out and at least in practice all's well. I got the impression that she's one of the mentally tougher skaters out there.

I don't see any one of Kimmie's weaker performances this past season as one of the occasional poor skates. I think Kimmie was simply in the ususal sports SLUMP.

For whatever reason(s) she was certainly not at her best even when she medaled, imo. Injuries, puberty, family or school problems, etc. could have set the slump in motion. If I believe Pam's statement, Kimmie should be back on track as a top competitor.

Personally, I do not judge skaters by the medals they win but by the emotions they set inside me. I'm all for watching the performance of Kimmie at Nats.

This would be the same coach who after Kimmie won Worlds talked a big game in the press about how Kimmie wasn't going to go the route of Kwan and lose her jumps and take the easy way out. We've not seen the triple axel since. Kimmie didn't medal at the next Worlds.
I think Kimmie needs to do her own talking on and off the ice and not worry about her coach's press "savy"

I'm expecting that Kimmie will skate well and win Nationals this year. For one thing, she needs to redeem herself from her poor showing at the GPF. Secondly, if she can't win this year without Emily Hughes skating who almost beat her last year, it would be a disaster for her.

I would think the judges will give her every advantage to win simply because with the exception of Ashley the other two ladies are too young. It would be nice to see either Bebe or Alissa skate well and place on the podium, however. But you never know with them.

I agree that Kimmie's definitely a fighter. I expect her to not necessarily be perfect at Nationals but I think she'll win w/ two strong performances. That, of course, is assuming her ankle injury isn't too serious.

^ WOW. You have quite a bit of opinions there and without saying so. Can you give your sources for the facts?

Joe

Sorry I missed your response.
Yes, kind of. The article is gone, but here is the quote and the original link.
"Triple axel again in Meissner's plans"

“We’ve always wanted to push it to the max,” said her coach, Pamela Gregory. “We don’t want to do these safety programs that Michelle [Kwan] was doing the last couple of years. We’re going full steam ahead. It’s always been our goal to push the envelope.”

I don't blame Kimmie for Gregory's comments, I am simply saying that I take what she says with a grain of salt and she that may talk a big game perhaps without always considering the consequences to her skater.

It makes me cringe every time I read this. MK's "safe programs" still contained 6 triples and she was injured during the "safe" era. How is it MK's fault that other skaters did not outskate those "safe" programs?

i think that Ms. Gregory went a little too far with this comment. Esp when her skater failed to land the 3 axel since 3005 nats and the 06-07 season had one (if that) clean SP. As a coach i would expect her to be more porfessional.
