Hello, I'm not a skater but I have a random question. I've noticed that if a skater puts a hand down on a jump, they can still get positive GOE from the judges. What is the logic behind that? Wouldn't they at least get a 0 or a -1?

Deduction for one hand down is between -1 and -2, but the jump may have other positive elements like steps before jump and matches music that make it start at a positive before the deduction for the hand down.
