Hersh Article: Announces TV Hosts for Nationals, Kwan Interested in Commentating

^

Well, for all the ballyhoo about LIVE on NBC, it seems we will be getting Ladies LP. I don't know what happened to Skate Dance, and we know there never was any intentiion of showing Pairs LIVE. The Men's got screwed and NBC does not have a sports affiliate as far as I know to show it LIVE or TAPED.

The Screen Actors Guild is now selling it's commercial air time at super high rates. on cable no less, because it will be LIVE and Red Carpeted. All those 'Oscar' dresses will be seen. They have taken advantage of the Strike.

Figure Skating, imo, does not know how to sell its time slots commercially.

BTW, any news from NBC on the 2009 Worlds in LA?

I still don't know how I feel about Kwan commentating...if that's what she wants to do, she NEEDS desperately to get some voice training. It can be tough to listen to her sometimes. jmo

I love MK's voice, gentle and soothing. I prefer female radio announcers/ TV commentators etc to have a gentle voice. Conventional wisdom has always pointed to female commentators with deep (baritone) range voice. That is why I haven't listened much to any MET (Saturday opera broadcast) for the past few years.

Back to topic, I think NBC has a decent lineup of commentators. I think MK has more on her plate nowadays, college being priority #1. Now to the real interesting news anyone? Who is her newest bf?

Fortunately for Michelle, there is one thing that protects her privacy - she is not a "mainstream" celebrity. What makes me think that? Simple - where are the paparazzi?

Um... Bob Costas is a very recognizable and respected sports journalist... so I'm not sure why all the angst... if he's attached that's good for skating...

I agree... Costas has covered like 3 Olympics and all major sporting events. He is one of the most versatile sports analyst/journalist in the field. He is also exceptionally knowledgeable in all aspects of sporting events.

NBC brought him on board for the NHL Winter Classic, gave it more cachet.

If Michelle wants to learn about commentating, she should watch and learn from him.

Speaking of which, while watching part of Deal or No Deal tonight I saw an ad for nats this Saturday.

(don't ask me why I was watching that btw :sheesh: )

I think they should also bring Costas into their Stanley Cup coverage, give it more of a "big event feel". They've had him for the championships of the other three major sports when they had them; the Super Bowl, NBA finals and World Series, so why not the Stanley cup.
