Canadian Figure Skating Team Announced for 2026 ISU Figure Skating World Championships

Ottawa, ON (Feb. 23, 2026) — Following the conclusion of the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, where Canadian skaters set new personal best scores, Skate Canada has named its team for the upcoming ISU World Figure Skating Championships, to be held in Prague, Czechia from March 24-29, 2026.
The team will be comprised of twelve seasoned athletes, representing the country in women’s, men’s, pairs and ice dance. This event marks the end of a fantastic season that saw senior figure skaters take home close to 25 international medals.

Skate Canada has a robust selection criterion for each ISU Championships to undertake the selection of athletes and teams who will represent Canada at these events. Skate Canada’s selection criteria for ISU Championships can be found on skatecanada.ca.

Anyone else surprised Deanna and Maxine off world team?
Or have I missed retirement announcement?

Anyone else surprised Deanna and Maxine off world team?
Or have I missed retirement announcement?
Not really surprised. Even before she was injured, I didn't think they'd go, since they were scheduled for Art on Ice in Switzerland...they have shows until March 7th so that would have been a quick turnaround there. And now with her injury I understand she prioritises her health. She wasn't cleared for anything else than the Olympics.

I am really sad Deanna and Max aren't going to worlds but she wasn't cleared for competition other than the olympics is what she said. Her doctor did not think it was advisable for her to compete at world's. There is still a shroud of myster but clearly things aren't great. I just wanted them to have a good send off skate. Let's be blunt at Olympics everyone was just praying they would get through their routines. Here's hoping for top ten for Gogo. But Canada will not have ac hance for 3 teams in pairs. 2 realistic but it is not impossible I guess Lia and Trennt could end up outside the top 12 with theno. 2 Canadian team so they could I suppose end up with 1 team but unlikely. Dance should be okay as long as Piper and Paul skate well and LaLa continues to move up. I worry that USA no. 2 may sneak on the podium but who knows. There is a lot of redepmptive skates (Well in their minds skating for redemption). Briain, Italy. Spain. Here' s hoping Piper and Paul not only medal but pull an upset. I just hope they don't pull out. I think the fear is Fear and Gibson. By the judges "giving' them bronze last year and then essentially proclaiming them olympic bronze medallists hroughout the season though no winning bronze they have a lot of confidence and a lot of expectations which may challenge P squared.

Nice gift for Madi. I kind of hope it is a nice parting gift. Our modern version of Jennifer Robinson without a top ten is geting a little "long in the tooth" We know she is trying her best but she just hasn't been able to ge the job done after how many world's? 5 or so???
