Has anyone ever used the technique videos from the ISU? On the ISU site they're selling videos illustrating jump technique, spins etc with explanations by top coaches and skaters. I just wanted to know if they were helpful to your skating and if they are worth the money.

I have seen the ISU tapes and do think they're helpful. They get into the details of the element including on ice techniques, off ice exercises to improve the needed mucles, you get perspective by different coaches and skaters and you also get into the differences of singles, doubles, and triples and by female and male skaters of differing ages. It's fun to watch. There's nothing else out there like it right now. You can also find them here at Rainbo.

I have some of the ISU tapes, and it's really extensive and helpful. Not only do they give you tips on how to do something, they also show you correct videos of other skaters doing them, as well as off-ice exercises you can do to help you jump/spin!

I have used these. There is also another series out with Ann Margreth Frei called Magic of Style, and Gus Lussi has a series as well. I watched these when I first started skating and was lost. Now that I have my skating legs under me, I find that the help me polish what I have already learned.

I find the Ann Margreth Frei tapes are okay, but not the most helpful, except for the off-ice workout in Tape 2. The Charles Butler "Physics on Ice" tape is good, but for my money, the Natalia Dubova tapes are the best. But they are for ice dancers, and that's my preferred branch of the sport.
