Icons and Characters: Who did what and Who can play whom?

I started to think about this ever since I learned about Delobel & Schoenfelder's 2004-5 FD "Frida." Elena Liashenko skated to the same movie sound track during the same season.

I remember watching Nicole Bobek's "Marilyn Monroe" in the States a couple of years ago and will never forget...

On the other hand, I think it will be quite entertaining to watch someone skating to "Lucille Ball" of I Love Lucy...

and, interestingly, Johnny Weir doing Andy Warhol... with a blond wig or something:cool:
 
Quite a few have done Chaplin as well: Ryan Bradley this year, Petr Barna in 1992(?). For me the best was Bereznhaya & Sikharulidze's "City Lights" program.

Not so fond of the Elvis programs though.

I think Nathalie Pechalat would rock as "Amelie"-- not really an icon though. But that music would suit them so well.

I love both of those as well! Delobel and Schoenfelder also did Bonnie and Clyde last year... I really didn't like it though.

A lot of skaters have done Evita.

of course Kurt Browning's Casablanca is one of the greats.
 
Ooooooh yes, for me Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze's "City Lights" was absolutely the best character piece ever! I just love that program.
 
Didn't Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze do a number where he dressed like Elvis and she like Marylin Monroe?
 
yes they did... I thought that it was really beneath them choreography wise... it was cute but not anything to write home about

their Chaplin routines are SO much better.
 
it's not *horrible* but it was very gimmicky... considering Tanith and Ben had done a similar routine as their competitive and exhibition program around the same time (and they nailed it) it just wasn't up to par with what B/S were known for... it was a step in the wrong direction. I think they were trying to have a program that was more N. American because, unfortunately, I think N. America was still teed off about the olys (or at least that's what B/S and team might have been feeling)

speculation on my part, but I do know they wanted to tribute to "American Legends" and I assume it was to try and connect with the audience better... but for me it didn't work (and it really didn't work for my dad who is an Elvis & skating fanatic!)
 
Scott Hamilton and Katia Gordeeva did a Chaplin routine in his Upside Down special that was pretty cute.
 
Kurt Browning as Bogart in Casablanca!!!!!! Iconic skater, iconic actor, iconic character, iconic movie, iconic program!

Also Kurt as Gene Kelly in his Singin' in the Rain exhibition/television special (all the 'iconic's as above)
