Impressive skater quotes from the past

My favorite is another Kwan quote. When (at ag 13) she was asked if she minded not being elevated to the US National championship after Tonya was stripped of her '94 title, she said "that is not how I want to become a champion". I always liked the idea of doing it right that she conveyed when she said that.

I've always liked the Kurt Browning quote in my sig line because it's both funny and true! :chorus:

Another great Kurt quote is "You are not just a champion because you win something, but a champion because of the person you are." That one is from a Spanish magazine interview Kurt did a few years ago.

I have more favourites, but those are the two I can think of off the top of my head right now.

I love the way skaters' expressions being keen on words as well as on ice!!
(I also find occidental language being easier to carry wit in itself.)

Now one from Suguri.

Fumie did her very best in Torino and skated clean, but finished fourth without a medal.
I never knew that vexation and elegance could co-exist till she said after the free skate:

"Torino has cast a spell on me, which I think won't be removed except in the next Olympics, so I'd like to exert myself to go there to be out of this spell."

Big games do seem to end in deep emotions and unerasable memories.
