She probably will sometime soon. I love her skating, but it's about to end.

Unbelievable. very bad taste - and it's all in the mouth.

Skating is not singing, though...I doubt anyone would be able to win a world title at 65...

Well there's the world adult skating champions (the first of which was in Obserstdorf las season) which includes skaters of that age...

For the record no-one (to my knowledge) has commented on it til now and by noting it you're entering into the discussion. Since no-one cares about discussing politics on a figure skating forum like this one airing opinions like whether its the worst kind of politics or not is simply your politcal opinion and therefore totally off topic.

It's his/her choice and it's not a big deal to anyone but you.

Well, back on topic...

--"There is a report by John Zimmerman on Yahoo's Olympic page - and Zimmerman says it is confirmed - that Irina threw a tantrum after the medal ceremony and chucked her bronze medal into a trash bin. " --

I was very surprised to hear this after seeing her grateful response in 2004 to getting 9th. - I am sure most of you will know what I am refering to. And she still is coping with a number of the same issues???

"Ira, You are still loved and admired!!!!!! Johny seemed more up set about you then his buddy."

Not trying to say that she shouldn't be upset AND she should have a little more privacy - maybe the steroids are making her moody (acutely haven't heard if she's off totally or what, think she'll be on them forever, but that has affects if she's being "weaned" as well).

I really think that she felt like she didn't give her Mother the one thing she thought Mom would want, and that is something that can kill you inside.

Also can ONLY assume, that "hubby" and the way he is very "trophy bride" oriented, might have a touch of "sting" to it as well.

And Sasha screwed up at Least twice, that made me at least "motion" to the TV with a WHAT......HOW.....HUNH?

She might not even know, or at the time, what she was doing. Sometimes people can just feel like it is the end one day and the same thing makes you feel like starting something new. Emotions are unpredictable most of the time.

She might not even have done this - I am still 50-50 on believing, or I just can't admit it yet - let alone the possibilities of some totally unknown reason that is truly her right to privacy. We'll really have to wait for a few more sources and possibly her showing it to everyone.

I've lost my cool as well, And I admire her just the same! Besides that, I don't think her Program could have earned her the gold via the points if it was perf. It was Sh-chan's night, there is nothing her "components" could have done to change it.

For now, I'll conceder the source. And I think she'll make a great Mom too.

Yes, It is a public place;

only one that cares about it is me?

How can you be so sure?

Perhaps only the bold speak forth what they think.

It's obvious that you don't care. Yours is a nasty remark.

I just can't believe all the excuses people make up for Irina - if Michelle or Sasha had thrown away their medals they would be crucified.

Neither MK or SC have been through the life of Irina.

They have their own way of handling or not handling their disappointments.

Doesn't really matter to me; it shows me Irina was abnormally upset.

I think she needs to do what MK did; get out of amateaur skating.

The upcoming skaters are enormously skillful in many ways; not to say those before them weren't/aren't. It's becoming a differing skating competition.

MK has not announced her retirement from amateur skating.
Believe me I would know if she had.

IMO, both Irina and MIchelle know the physical risks of continuing with competition; since neither have opened up their medical records to the public, they and their doctors are the only ones with the relevant knowledge. It seems to me that both Michelle and Irina are capable adults, who can make their own decisions -- and I assume that, whatever decision each one makes will be right for her. Honestly, if anyone over 40 heard from their bossess or co-workers the same stuff that you hear on skating boards about Michelle and/or Irina retiring, they would probably have a good age and/or disability harassment claim.
