Is Bode Miller driving you nuts?

Bode has seemed pretty aloof and unconcerned about the Olympics but does appear to be treating it as just another event which I think is how you'd want to approach it. I'm sure he'll get some medal at some point before the games end.

Well skiers, like tennis players, have an involved pro circuit with numerous opportunities to win prestigious titles. While Olympic medals are valued more in skiing than they are in tennis, there are typically many upsets in the Olympics for skiing and then things resume to normal on the circuit. Bode is already pulling $3 mill a year in endorsements. A poor performance at the games would be disappointing, but he'll have lots of opptys to rebound.

Bode hasn't really bothered me- I've kind of enjoyed it. Then I realized that since I have tivo, I've missed most of the commercials. There's so much down time from commercials and talking heads, I really can't watch it without being able to fast forward. Did you see Bode crash out of super G? It was pretty spectacular- he caught an edge and skiied quite a while on one ski while the other bounced around behind him. He was very lucky to avoid a serious injury. I think it's a little unfair that he has bad luck- catches an edge- and there's this undercurrent like, oh he was asking for it 'cause of his mouth.

I got so irritated with the constant talk of Bode Miller that I was happy when he did not medal in his first event. However, when he was DQ'ed in his second event, I felt sorry for him. So it is bothering me less now, but that may be because he is not being mentioned as frequently.

There are a few others that are bothering me too. The Flying Tomato- definitely is getting irritating. I will think of some more later and edit my post.

So Mathman, is he going to be "your" jerk, or just a plain old jerk? His last event is Saturday and from what I gather it is his weakest.

I dont think he had any chance in the slalom anyway, even when he has finished slalom races this year he is a second or more slower per run than the top slamomers. He was a major contender in the 4 other events though, he had 3 DNFS this Olympics, he performed like a clown.

Agreed. Perhaps that's Bode's next job, being a clown.

At our household, it got so that we would cheer whenever Bode wiped out!


Whenever we'd see the stupid Bode-Philosophy commercials, we'd throw the plastic dog bones at the screen, especially when they flashed the name of his website (joinbode.com or whatever)....should be changed to "dumpbode.com" (or less genteel names, not suitable for public consumption)!
