Let me preface this with the fact that I'm not a skater, and don't really understand how things work, but could you not try and contact Trifun Zivanovic and see what he did. He was a beginner at some point and was a novice as well. Perhaps he has some connections or advice for resources to get more trainig. He may even know someone or a business that would be willing to sponsor you as you apparently show promise...just a thought. I'd also contact the other skater you mentioned (Sonja M?) and she how she managed at your level.
It's just...too hard to accept...

Hey all,
just a few words from me...
I am training now on the ice again, since saptember. It's very hard though. We have trainings at 6 in the morning till 8. From 6 to 7 you can skate normaly, but from 7 to 8 there are many skaters on the ice and it's hard. Our school system is that one week you go to school in the morning, then second in the afternoon. so when I go in the morning, I can skate from 6AM to 7AM and then run for the bus to get to school (since I live far from the ice rink). So I guess you understood I have to wake uo before 5 AM.
There is another new I would add. There have been stories like these for years already, but it has never actually been done before. Now it is. Since who-knows-when, the new ice rink opened in Belgrade. However, I dont think I will be able to skate there, and honestly, I would even like better to have normal trainings at the old ice rink, than to skate at the new one. As you can see there are many problems, about practices. It's about people from both of our skating federations who care about everything but sport. (or I should say chasing for money?)
I was looking for sport scholarships in America on the interner, but it's useless. No figure skating. You've got even field hockey but no skating!
Recently, in Belgrade, there was European championships in waterpolo. Serbia won the gold as everybody expected. After the competition, there was a coctail or however you'll name it, and there were athletes, politicans and media people... And one of our best waterpolo players said loud, without any excuses, to one of very important Serbian politicans: "How dare you? You are only here to take photos with us when we win something. Where were you to halp us, to support us when we needed it?" There you go, in front of everybody. Another example of how people care about sport.

I know what you mean. I guess that is to credit of the fact skaters like A*F*S can make it seem so effortless and beautiful. Odd that some will conceder gymnastics a sport though not FS - example used because of the scoring similarity. They will also say Golf is but not FS? Ignorance might be bliss, but it should be against the law!:banging: Well I guess I could get arrested then

My dad watches golf...but lurves skating, he's the one who made me watch it when I wasa little kid!

no way. I would love to explain you everything, but more I would talk, the less you would understand. Federation does what it wants. Today they may have profit of , I dont know, for example short track-they'll be good with them. Tomorrow, who cares? It's like everywhere, people are just chasing for money

On the other hand, I think there are quite a few skating fans with money who would be willing to "adopt" a talented skater from Eastern Europe for a season, or a year. Out of sheer love of the sport. BTW for Mila since she may not understand how we use the word "adopt": it's an expression that means "sponsor" in the sense of "give financial support to a specific individual." It does not mean anything legal or familial. The people who are "adopted" in this sense just have to be friendly to the one paying their bills. It can get uncomfortable, though, if things are not clear up front. You definitely have to be careful. There must be someone who could give you advice about this.

First,hedwig, I totaly understand what you mean. But posting helps me because atleast here someone understands me. Most of people here don't. And about the offers and suggestions: yes, there were many here. And I'm ready. Though I may be young and everything, if for example, someone would help me to train suring the summer in foregin country. That's just an example. Firstly I didnt ask anything but I see many people suggest me things.
Ofcourse I would have to know exactly where am I going, what am I doing and everything. I cant just....go, somewhere.... And ofcourse, there is my school too, cant forget it.
But I'm not affraid. I am young, but ready. Though I dont know language well and everything, I want it. And a dream costs nothing unless you want it to come true.

Well, maybe now people with extra bedrooms in the summertime who live near rinks with good coaches can step forward, and your parents could speak to them by phone. This is a great time to plan next summer.
A lot of people here have long-distance phone plans making international calls quite cheap, so a phone interview wouldn't be too hard. Your parents can ask for all the references and assurances they want. They can have many exploratory conversations before making any commitment and nothing would obligate you or them to agree to ANYTHING you feel uncomfortable with.
It can happen, if you want it, but will take a lot of work to put together all the details.
If there is any specific advice you want, just ask.

Ice, Roller or Nothing At All?

I'm new in this forum but read your initial posting with some common interest.
Everywhere there are fewer ice rinks available. I have ice and roller skated and can tell you that if you can do one or the other then the switch-off will not be as hard as no skating at all. Plus, there is always the social factor to consider.
(Hope I did not miss one somewhere stating you have no roller rinks either--!!!)
The balances will be different but as much a die-hard as we all believe you must be it will come easier than you think.
