I’ve had an absolute nightmare trying to buy Jackson figure skates. I’ve never had issues buying skates before, but this is the first pair I’ve purchased in a few years, and it’s been a disaster.
The first two pairs I received were twisted. Later, I found out that the first shop I bought them from had actually damaged one of my blades. They didn’t realize it until I went to a different shop with more experienced technicians. After two fittings, they discovered that my blade was bent and damaged, which was part of the problem.
So, we ordered another pair of boots that weren’t twisted (and brand new blades) - but once again the right one still feels like it’s straining my ankle. I’ve had multiple blade adjustments, but things have only gotten worse. At this point, I’ve spent around $900, visited the shop multiple times, and they still can’t fix the issue. I feel too embarrassed to keep going back, and now after all this I still can’t skate.
I want to add that I do not have ANY issues with my feet or legs at all, this is clearly a boot or blade issue - but it can’t be pinpointed. The techs don’t use figure skates so I don’t think they fully understand the complexity of figure skates and how finicky they can be, and how crucial it is to for them to be near perfect.
Has anyone else had an experience like this? My left boot is fine—no issues at all—but my right boot feels like it’s spraining my foot and ankle, hurting my knee, and even causing sciatica. The shop can’t figure out what’s wrong with it… in fact my last blade adjustment made things even worse.
It feels like my weight is pressing really hard on the inside arch closer to the back of the blade. When I’m gliding I feel like my knee is being pulled in the opposite direction. Everything feels off. But the left side is perfect. It’s always the right boot that seems to have a manufacturing issue.
I feel like a clown going back to the shop again - I might just cut my losses.
If anyone knows how to handle this please help a girl out! Xx.
