JGP # 2 - Rumänien

Men's SP results are in.

I'm surprised to see Eliot Halverson in 6th. Hopefully he can bounce back in the free skate. Congratulations to Adam Rippon for coming in 1st, I've heard he is a beautiful skater.
Halverson has his work cutout for him with the LP. (look what happened to Steenberg).

The results from the women's free skate are up. Congratulations to Chrissy Hughes on her win! How exciting this must be for her. Hopefully her programs will show up online soon.

Myriane Sampson's errors were unfortunate. It's a shame, since I thought she may be able to break through to the JGP final this year. Oh well, I wish her all the best at nationals. At least she was third in the FS here. That's a good sign. Congratz to Chrissy Hughs, though. Looks like US ladies will be dominating again this year. Also congratz to Crone/Poirier in dance. They won the OD with a PB score (I think), and have about a three point lead heading into the FD.

The Jr. ladies' field is quite weak with the exception of Americans.

Japanese Jr. ladies do not seem to have raw talent at the moment.

I haven't seen Samson's performance yet. However, I find consolation from the fact that she appeared to put together two better programs than the Quebec summer skate. I was quite worried about her going nowhere this year.

I wondered why she was behind the podium finishers in technical marks, (she got just as good marks in terms of the quality of skating). I guess the fall she got a deduction for happened in a combination and cost her a lot of technical marks, as she couldn't complete subsequent jumps.

Hopefully, she will do better as the season progresses. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Me too! She's a very nice skater and had a good performance at last year's nationals. Canada needs some more depth in Sr. ladies, so I hope she progresses well this season.

Does anyone know if any of these performances can be viewed online? I'd love to see the Crone/Poirier's programs.

Samson's jumps:
SP 2A, 3Z combo (fall), 3L (-0.75 GOE).
FS 2A, 3Z (underrotated), 3F (fall), 3A, 3L (-0.25 GOE), 2Z (-0.38 GOE), 2F2L.

Altho Myriane gets good presentation scores, her jumps are insecure. She finished 5th overall, so she may or may not get a second assignment.

This is her last year of JGP eligibility (Charlotte Belair's last, too). Canadian ladies look pretty dismal at this point.

 Congratulation to Isabel Drescher to placing 6th in her first ever international competition. This is a really good start to this 13 year olds season.

Good luck for Chemnitz ISA!

Muro of Japan was quite near him in the Tech but Muro's PCS has to be improved.

I hope someone youtubes Adam and you will see how Johnny Weir he is (maybe better), Mostly 6's in PCS scores and in juniors! If Morozov can get him to turn 4 rotations in the air, the USA will at long last have a Men's Oly Gold.

Myriane did triple Axel? You mean 2A?

Unfortunately, that's true. Does anyone know if the Canadaian Jr. ladies champ Dana Zhalko-Tytarenko (sp?) will be on this years JGP circuit. I heard she was injured, but I think she was at summer sizzle.

Congratulations to Crone/Poirier. A PB in every portion based on their ISU profile and a gold medal. Too bad about singles, because Canadian dance is looking amazing this season. 2 events, 2 medals.

I highly doubt that she would get an assignment. There are 3 girls ( Di Bartolo, Tisluk and Ure) who don't have assignments that were at least listed as alternates. Dana has not been listed as alternate for any assignment thus far.

With 5 of the 7 available slots already filled those 3 girls would be considered for the final 2 slots ( assuming none of the first 5 girls perform well enough to get a second assignment) before Dana.

Skate Canada's policy was to go for the girls who have the bigger jumps ( however inconsistent they may be) over someone who just has a triple salchow and toe.

The problem is that girls who finished at the top of junior ladies at the last nationals ( including Dana) don't have the bigger triple jumps at all and that the ones with the bigger jumps more often than not bomb out.
