You cut the sentence short. It should also read, if that's what he wants. I don't care what the nationality of skaters are. If I like them I like them.

Nubka didn't cut the sentence short. That is exactly what you wrote.
If you had added "if that's what he wants" to the first sentence, I don't think anyone would have said a word. I know I wouldn't have. Maybe that's what you meant, but that is not what you wrote.

Thanks sillylionlove for saving me. He also said quite recently in one of his interviews that his mother would not allow him to train in Russia.
I have no idea what wishful thinking is about. What am I wishing for?

I went back and looked and he actually said that he wanted to live in Russia one day in an interview in International Figure Skating Magazine...the one with Plushenko and Johnny on the cover.....no problem saving you there. I think that Johnny and his mother are very close and I am sure that she does not want her son away from her around the world for so long!!

Johnny mentioned waltz or dance music in his pre-Worlds teleconference. Shostakovich did two jazz suites. That might be interesting. The Leningrad Symphony is an old warhorse for orchestra fans, but I don't know that it's often used in figure skating.
I happen to like Russian music so I also wouldn't mind Prokofiev. Provided that it is NOT Romeo & Juliet. Perhaps Alexander Nevsky. Just not anything that's been done to death already.

Everyone here knows that Johnny has a [passion] for all things Russian. On his MySpace page he lists his hometown as Quarryville, Pennsylvania but his location as Moscow, Russian Federation.
I personally don't care if he becomes a Russian citizen tomorrow and spends the rest of his eligible career racking up titles for Mother Russia. I don't root for Johnny because he shares my nationality (my other fav skaters are Lambiel & Takahashi). Having said that, there are (sadly) several people who would care. And tossing out a statement that makes it sound like he's considering Russian citizenship may give fuel to those people who are looking for a reason to diss him.
BTW Johnny was actually asked the citizenship question, point blank, in a March 2007 Q & A on his official website.
Back on topic -- Reading his latest Journal entry, I think he already considers himself "a citizen of the World!" He mentioned how touched he was at Worlds that flags from several different nations were being flown in support of him. He seems to be a little in awe of his global fan base and genuinely grateful for the support.

I agree with Susan that the Firebird, would be a very bad choice. I admit I love the music and I feel it is not done that much, but there are a lot of powerful selections there that do not fit Johnny's style at all.

Johnny is rightly proud of landing the quad at Worlds, but in sober fact it only got him 1.78 points. I have to wonder if Buttle's winning strategy will make Johnny think again about whether he should put so many eggs in this one basket.
Johnny's jump layout for the past season went something like this.
3A+3T (12.90 points at Cup of Russia, 12.50 points at Cup of China, with GOE)

At U.S. Nationals and Worlds he essentially just substituted a quad for the double Axel. This substitution gained him three or four points at U.S. Nationals and lost two or three points at Worlds.
Johnny has been criticized for not maxing out his combinations, but because of Zayak restrictions (he already has two 3A's and 2 3Lz's, and a 3T in his Axel combo), about the only way he could raise his point total would be to do a triple flip / triple loop combo and change his solo triple loop to another double Axel.
Johnny admits to being nervous in the LP, and his skating, especially his jump landings, showed it.
Do you think he would be better off to blow off the quad altogether, and try to win on the quality of his elements? All of his jumps except one got positive GOEs at Cup of China -- more than enough to make up for the lack of a quad, in comparison to Worlds.

Also looking forward to new programs next season. I also noticed that it was very obvious that he fought through the program. Especially when he pushed for one of those double toes at the end of the triple jump. I was thinking, wow I haven't see him fight like that before. Great job!

Galina may be working wonders with him with regard to skating, but Johnny has always been pretty complimentary of his competitors when they skate well. It's nothing new. I think people sometimes judge all his behavior in terms of "the rivalry", which, admittedly seems to bring out the worst in him at times. But, even saying that, he often gives Evan his due.

And you just know by 2010 he will just "want to have fun out there and skate my best."
I suspect the days of black aura's and icicle on coke comments to the media are well and truly over

Thanks mmcfdcsju. It brought back so many memories. actually the ABT version, the male dancers do much more difficult jumps, but that's the era. I loved the 'Baby, it's cold outside' number with Miss Piggy.
Spun Silver and Ptitchka - A Pairs team could give it a try.. But ballet music is very precise as to phrasing. It would have to be a very unique Pairs team.

That was Barishnikov when he was at ABT. That whole movie was made by ABT dancers except for the guest stars.
You could see the increase in difficulty from Nureyev to Barishnikov..
It's incredible to watch these guys do 8 revolutions in pirouettes without ice .
Would like to see Johnny and Mischer come up with a great program.
