I just shared this on FSU. Perhaps someone here is also interested, so: Katherine Healy shared some pictures and articles on Pinterest, which of course includes figure skating related material.

I don't know if I'm allowed to share Pinterest links here, so I won't. Amongst the people who share her name, the one with pomrenoir added is her page.

I have always liked Katherine Healy. She was in that movie about that little upbeat cancer patient.

I've noticed she also has a Youtube channel under the same name (pomrenoir). Golden Skate should write an article about this. Katherine was such a lovely skater from the post gold medal John Curry era of skating.

My favorite video of her is from John Curry's ice skating company. It's too bad it ran out of business. That was a real shame, but businesses are very hard to run.

To this day, I've never seen any ballerina who has turns like Katherine has. No one.

After her undergrad at Princeton, she went to Europe and toured with a ballet company there. I've never been able to find much footage from her time there, but from what I understand from interviews, she was happier to move back to the United States.

I just checked her Wikipedia and learned that she's been a widow since 2014. That's a real shame too. She had her husband Peter Burrows looked really happy together. He proposed to her after the second date! :luv17:

Was it "6 Weeks" ? I'm going to try to find it today on youtube. I LOVED it but many didn't- it was with Dudley Moore, and Mary Tyler Moore.

Last year I picked up a "picture" book called A Very Young Dancer, by Jill Krementz, is a used bookstore, following the life of 10-year-old student Stephanie DePierro in George Balanchine's School of American Ballet. The writing is good, too, telling the dancer's experience in her own voice.

Krementz also wrote A Very Young Skater, about Healy. I need to find it.

Bonus FYI, Krementz is Kurt Vonnegut's widow.

I used to train at Sky Rink in NYC when I was young, and Healy was in the generation of skaters right before mine, so we never overlapped. But I still have that copy of the book and it was such a big deal to me as a kid!
