Cowtown Cat. Didn't do very well.
I didn't pick anyone this year. The horse I pick never wins, so I figured why bother? Nice ride by the winning jockey on Street Sense, and way to go, Carl Nafzger, one of my favorites for his win years ago with Unbridled, where he called the race to the colt's 92-year-old owner, Mrs. Genter, in the owner's box. ("He's going to win, he's going to win! He did it! You did it! You've won the Kentucky Derby, oh, Miz Genter, I love you!") I still remember watching that and I was only...wow, 12? 11?
I do have a new rule now, though: when betting the Derby, never pick a horse trained by Todd Pletcher, no matter how good he looks on paper. Really, at this point, the man is jinxed.
