Ladies Free Skating - 2013 Trophée Eric Bompard

Viktoria Helgesson - Very good basic skating and quite pretty lines but this kind of strong staccato music doesn’t seem well suited to her soft and archetypally ‘feminine’ skating.

Amelie Lacoste - Great job finally not bombing and landing most of her jumps, however the landings were quite shaky, none of the jumps had solid and secure landings with good flow out, unfortunately.

Strong basic skating, really good edges, but the program was quite generic and lacked character. She was a little tense again.

Mae Berenice Meite - Very stiff back but quite a lot of arm movements throughout. She’s not the most balletic skater but she worked around that well by skating a program with busy upper body movement, timed to the music quite well.

Samantha Cesario - Some strong and expressive upper body movement but the program also featured empty spots without much other than stroking into jumps. Not a lot of transitions, some long jump entries and element layout seemed quite basic with some jumps done in same spots. She needs more speed.

Christina Gao - Poor posture and lines, she skated with rounded shoulders throughout. Not a lot of connection to the music.

God how I HATE the tights half-way over the skates! Such a sloppy look!

Love the music Adelina is skating to though.

Adelina is hitting the flips!! Well, everything.

I'm thrilled for her. She was due for a clean FS.

Sotnikova doing REALLY well. Seems she's got that flip curse under control. You could see the relief on her face after the last one was landed. Last part of program music is a bit grating though. Nice job, this should podium just a matter of which medal.

I really like Christina, and I'm very sorry to see her have so many problems in her fp. Just before her sp, she seemed more nervous than I've seen her, kind of not with it, although she did a good job there. I wonder if taking time off from school is really working for her this season? Or is it that she needs to simply develop more confidence in herself and have been given a vote of confidence by her fed at Nationals earlier this year? I guess wipe the slate clean after this poor skate which can happen to any skater, and just treat everything going forward as candy or the tastiest cake with the best icing ever.
