Aside from the PCS thing, I find it somewhat controversial that Hughes beat Rochette while flouting the rules, deliberately performing two lutzes and two flips with nary a combination in sight. I know she would have gotten the required deduction, but with other rules in play, such as the bonus for the second ones being in the back half of the program, was it really enough of a deduction from discouraging a skater from doing it again? I don't know that I've ever seen this come up in such a significant way before.

nine points ahead of emily. that's a lot! even with the popped flip. Good girl for saving the program. i must say, kimmie has grown on me. SHe really knows how to focus and not let thiese things distract her. That's somthing Sasha could never quite do. Except i torino. she was stunning after the falls. just stunning. perhaps her best. well anyway enough tears. thanks for the results!!!!

triple triples are worth a lot. kimmie's 3 lutz, triple toe is worth 9. somthing points.

Without a 3Axel you can do 5 solo triples and 2 more in combination making 9 triples in total possible if both combos are 3-3.

Good point. Was this a mistake or a crafty tactical move by the Hughes team? Since the new judging system is all about statistics - do you think the new way of coaching elite skaters is to weigh the odds of landing the triple combinations against falling, if the previous skaters tank on their jumps?
